[INFO] Beware buyer gamebrickstore on eBay

Just wanted to inform you of my experience with the buyer gamebrickstore (Andrea Gasparrini) on eBay. I sold him a Casio OR-264 64kB RAM cartridge after he begged me several times to reduce the price. After the sale there was already a messagee to inform me to pack it well so it would not be damaged (I should have known better at that point). I sent the package either way and of course it arrived in good order, he then told me he was unable to load Nemesis from tape into the RAM of his MSX (64kB HX-10) combined with the 64kB RAM in the OR-264. He later filed a return on the basis of item being defective because it did not respond to mapper OUT commands (which is of course totally as expected).

Obviously eBay being what it is it favours buyers over sellers so the return was of course accepted even though he did not respond any more to any of my messages.

So this is just my story as a word of warning and you should do with it however you feel appropriate.

Ebay in general is a risk even though I use it. The buyer obviously is a novice msx user and should have asked an expert msx user and seller like you regarding his intended use. Many non technical people don't understand how things work and might underestimate complexities of old machines before plug and play type of concept.

Is there even a tool to make use of 64kb cart like this on 64kb msx1, and load roms or tapes? Is that possible?

No it is not possible (as the RAM is fixed in the pages, to simulate ROM mapper you really need the flexibility of a memory mapper. And it's fine I offered him to accept the return at his expemse and pay him back the price of the item, but eBay rules are I should pay for return shipping and refund total amount (so basically I pay 2 times the shipping for his ignorance of what the product really is. That is what annoys me, he won't take responsibility of his actions. I also get some stuff sometimes from Japan that I misjudged in their usefulness, that is life in retro world.

Well, you sent me a ram for Yamaha and the packaging was great, personally somewhat excessive for an insert, but I thank you, because all the little that I have bought has been great, thank you for what you have sold me and for the warning . All the best.

I am also a happy customer from Peter and all I can say is he is always perfect both in packaging as well as on item condition.

Regarding eBay I definatelly encourage you for direct deals whenever it is possible…

Yeah I always go the extra mile in packaging because transport companies are just terrible sometimes and you never know when a package of yours is up for being mistreated (and the contents are to precious and physical damage like with those 8250’s is irreparable). And it is always possible someone bought something they did not understand and I don’t know if it is intentional on his part (probably not) but it does reflect on a person how they deal with that. And eBay is a good way to reach out to a larger audience for everyone who’s trading (although I have taken a break with eBay for now)

sdsnatcher73 has helped me to get some rare goodies. The items always exactly as described and shipped very well packaged.
Looking to do as much business with him as my girlfriend is going to tolerate.
