new rendering code for sprites (thanks to Wouter)
new more reasonable textures (with less detail)
draft sprite animation
framerate is almost always >=10 fps
Hi, it is pretty impressive.
I've just tried it on a real Tr. but when you walk against the walls. it hangs. If you avoid contact with the walls everything works pretty good. Keep up the good work
humm...
I tested it yesterday. Which wall was you facing?
for those who can't create a HDD in openMSX. www.vampier.net/raytracing.zip

Vampier: thanks, but you don't need a HDD to run this. (For now) you only need to run the file M3D.COM (file size = 28kB) in MSX-DOS.
This is really starting to look like a game!
@Vampier: Isn't HDD image a bit over kill for a <32K game?
A wall with a large black spot on it, like a doorway or something.
It also hangs randomly, when you walk and run in the maze and when you walk through walls, it sometimes exits to dos.
But still it is impressive, speed etc. is really nice and good playable.
I still remember you're first attempt of 3d raycasting. 1 motion every 10 seconds or so.
So this is realy good.
cheers
The game should return to msxdos when you press ESC or when you take an open door
In old versions, it was seeiming to hang as the game was not switching to screen 0 before terminating
I was almost sure I have fixed the problem in the last version
I'll test the problem tonight
PS
the frame rate of my very first textured raycaster was about 2-3 fps ;-)
cool, how do I get these new sprites from the screenshot?
Well, i'll guess it is just me then...
It returns to dos everytime i'll take a black open door, it only hangs when you walk outside the maze, with spacebar.
It didn't hang this time just running around.
