I suppose Nextor driver is the same as for Sunrise IDE/CF interface. Previous version had other problems including that of taking a long time to boot when the slave CF was not inserted. Latest version corrupts the FAT when the slave CF is inserted. The ideal would be to correct all these problems in a new update. Can you do that Alexey?

I can't fix those issues in the IDE driver myself, sorry. I tested the Beta2 BIOS with the older v0.1.5 driver and the problematic CF card started to work. As the usage of slave cards with Carnivore2 is limited, I'd rather have the Beta2 IDE driver v0.1.5 than to have compatibility issues with the newer driver.

On the other hand, I use 16GB SanDisk CF cards that do not work on 0.15.0 IDE driver but work like a charm on 0.17.0 (I’ve been using 0.17.0 for quite some time on C2, since it was released)

Then it makes sense to include both versions, with 0.1.5 as the default one.

We are creating the QVL (Qualified Vendor List) for Carnivore2. This is currently WIP (work in progress) and we would need your input to add as much information as possible into the document. The current version of the document can be found here:
https://sysadminmosaic.ru/msx/carnivore2/qvl_list-en

----- WARNING! -----
If you don't have any other MSX cartridges that could boot to MSX-DOS and run the C2MAN (or C2MAN40) utility or if you have only a couple of CF cards, do NOT take part in this testing! It could happen that after you write a different version of the Nextor BIOS into your cartridge, your CF cards may stop working and you will not be able to return the the working version of Nextor BIOS without someone's help.
----- WARNING! -----

If you would like to help us to complete the document, we would appreciate if you could test all your CF cards and SD-CF adapters with Carnivore2's latest firmware v2.40 and 2 different Nextor BIOS versions:

- Nextor BIOS v2.1.0 Beta 2 + IDE driver v0.1.5 ( http://rbsc.su/files/BIDECMFC.015 )
- Nextor BIOS v2.1.0 Beta 2 + IDE driver v0.1.7 ( http://rbsc.su/files/BIDECMFC.017 )

You will need to flash your cartridge with v2.40 firmware and Boot Menu from the repository (https://github.com/RBSC/Carnivore2) and do the testing with all your cards and adapters with the above mentioned files by renaming each of them to BIDECMFC.BIN and writing the IDE BIOS into your Carnivore2 with C2MAN (or C2MAN40) utility.

The results are needed in the following format:

Card 1:
- Brand (Sandisk, Transcend) or name of CF adapter
- Size (in MB or GB) or type and number of cards of CF adapter
- ID (as shown by Nextor BIOS when detecting a card)
- URL to the picture of the card or CF adapter on Internet
- "YES" if it works with the Nextor BIOS v2.1.0 Beta 2 + IDE driver v0.1.5, otherwise "NO"
- "YES" if it works with the Nextor BIOS v2.1.0 Beta 2 + IDE driver v0.1.7, otherwise "NO"

Card 2:
- ...
...

Adapter 1:
- ...
...

Information should be sent to the e-mail address that is in my MSX.ORG profile:
https://www.msx.org/users/alexey

Thanks in advance for your help!

I wonder, do you provide / are you planning to provide a CF driver for SymbOS?

I am an application programmer wannabe. No idea how to write drivers, especially for MSX platform.

Well, I don't have any experience about this subject either. I just meant that it SHOULD not be too hard to modify the existing IDE driver v0.1.5 / IDE driver v0.1.7 for this purpose... If I look at the existing drivers, they seem to be less than 1kB in size, so I can't imagine making one would be huge effort from anyone, who has access to existing sources... but as I said I'm not expert either.

Maybe Nestor will make a compatible driver for Carnivore2 after I send him the cartridge.

According to their website SymbOS already supports the Sunrise IDE, and thus, Carnivore2?
