well, I was able to compress graphic data so the game now fit in 120 chars/line (pure120 category). Added pulsing background color too!

Last Version (I promise!)
Removed pulsing background color (someone told me it was eyes-annoying)
Changed graphics and colors
Added a parallax level, to the top and to the bottom of the screen
Added onscreen game name SEUTEN (Shot Em Up TENliner)
Enjoy!

And here's a complete code explanation:

0 B$="¿ÿ¿U¿ÿ¿ÿþÿþUþÿþÿûÿûUûÿûÿïÿïUïÿïÿ'ßWßßWß'äûêûûêûäÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ":SCREEN1,2,0:COLOR,1,4:WIDTH32Big smileEFINTA-Z:KEYOFF:L=10:R=1

B$ contains all characters definitions of the game: infatc each character inside b$ has its asc value that we can use as
value to redefine chars... It is at the start of the listing so we can know exactly that the first character inside b$ is
in RAM at address 32778 (if we use 0 as 1st line number because the editor add a space before the "B" of b$ else it would
be 32777). Then we set screen: 1=32x24 text mode with graphic possibilities, 2=sprites16x16, 0=no keyclick. Setting colors
(foreground omitted), background, border. Setting columns nr to teh max (default nr is 29 'cause old tvs had problems displaying
most lefts coulmns). Then we define all variables as integers. Keyoff erases F-key description in the bottom of the screen. L is
set to 10 and is the color of our bullet. This has be done to save a char in the last line. R is a position flag we will use in
line nr 2 for sprites definition

1 A$="F87F3F1F1F1F3F7C0000E09EFFFEE00000000779FF7F07001FFEFCF8F8F8FC3E":FORK=0TO31:VPOKE776+K,PEEK(32778+K):NEXT:V=14336

In a$ we have the sprites definition of player and enemy ships, coded in hexadecimal, 2 chars/value. The loop fork=0to31
reads first 32 values contained in B$ directly from RAM (peek(32778+k) and put them in VRAM (vpoke) to redefine chars a,b,c
and d. V is the start address of sprites definitions in VRAM

2 FORK=32TO55:VPOKE800+K,PEEK(32778+K):NEXT:FORK=1TO4:FORT=0TO7:VPOKEV+T,VAL("&h"+MID$(A$,R,2)):R=R+2:NEXT:V=V+16:NEXT

the loop fork=32to55 reads the values contained in B$ directly from their position in RAM and load them in VRAM to redefine
chars h,i and j: Next double loop redefine sprites. We have to define 2 16x16 sprites. every sprites consists of 4 squares
of 8x8 pixels, in this order:

1 3
2 4

For our pourpose we need only to define square 1 and 3 of sprite 0 (player ship) and 1 and 3 of sprite1 (enemy ship). So we
define 4 squares (fork=1to4) of 8 valueas each (fort=0to7) in VRAM. so we do 4 times (fork=1to4) VPOKE (poke in VRAM) V
(sprite definitions start address) + T (increment address 8 times (fort=0to7 starting from 0 to avoid skipping a position),
value (VAL) "&H" (hexadecimal msx basic suffix)+ 2 alfanumeric chars taken from A$, at R position (MID$(A$,r,2)). R is incremented
by 2 in the inner loop, so every time the loop point to next byte of sprite definition address R point to next 2chars group inside
A$ (hexadecimal are always 2chars long in 0-255 range). At the end of the inner loop (square loop) V is incremented by 16 units,
so every time a new square loop starts the sprite definition address is 16bytes higher avoiding a square. So at the end of the outer
loop we have defined squares 1,3 of sprite0 and 1,3 of sprite 1

3 VPOKEV+6,255Big smile$=CHR$(27)+"Y":FORT=3TO6TongueOKE63779,T*4:READA$,B$,C$,J:C$=STRING$(32,C$):FORK=1TO3:A$=A$+A$:B$=B$+B$:NEXT

At the end of sprites definition loop V is incremented by 16 the last time too, so point to square 1 of sprite2. We add 6
to reach the seventh line of the sprite2 first square and vpoke 255 there (so we have a 8 pixel long line, that we use as player bullet).
Setting D$ as a escape sequence that tell where to print (instead of use locate for saving chars). Now with thw next loop we build the parallax
scrolling illusion: a trick possible in a machine with enough VRAM is that you can use that to "save" pre-builded screens. When using screen1
settings we have a lot of unused space we can use for this pourpose. We simply have to change the starting address of the nametable and the
correspondant screen will be displayed (at zero cpu cost). So I used in this game 4 different screens (but using screen1 we can have 6). So outer
loop (fort=3to6) is to select the number of screens (4), using the numbers we will use to set their starting addresses. With poke63779,t*4 we tell
to the basic in wich area the statement "print" (and all related, such as cls or locate) has to work. Then we read our datas accordignly ordinated:
A$ if the 4char base string for 16pixel scrolling layer,B$ is the 4char base string for 8pixel scrolling layer, C$ is the 1char base string for
4pixel scrolling layer, J is the value of char used for 2pixel scrolling layer (background). Then we set c$ as a 32 chars string. Next loop (nested)
makes A$ and B$ 2 strings of 32 chars where 4base string are repeated

4 CLS:?D$+"! "+B$;A$;C$:?D$+"3 "+C$;A$;B$:A$=STRING$(32,J):FORK=4TO18:LOCATE,K:?A$;:NEXT:?D$+"6,SEUTEN":NEXT:V=8204

Now we clear actual screen and print, starting from the second line (print d$=escape sequence+"row pos char" whom value is 32+row "column pos char"
32+column so in this case row1=32+1=33="!",column0=32+0=" ") the tree strings a$,b$ and c$. Then the same strings but from c$ to A$ by row19 (20th).
After that we set a$ as a 32chars string filled with the asc value that we had loaded in J and fill rows from 4 to 18 (5th-19th) with this string.
Doing this we have drawn 4 screens with preshifted chars ready to create a scrolling illusion! At the bottom of the screen we print the game name.
V is the first color value we have to change later

5 VPOKEV,18Tongue=0:VPOKEV+1,229:B=271:I=209:W=I:Y=96:S=15Big smileATAhjjh,jhhj,h,97,jjhh,hjjh,i,98,jhhj,jhhj,h,99,hhjj,hjjh,i,100

In screen1 color table is short. Every location is for a group of 8 characters. The higher nibble is for foreground color, lower nibble for background
color. We need to change only 2 location, correspondent to the chars we have redefined. P is the score variable. B the start x position of enemy ship
(with higher value because it will be decreased by 16 suddenly at game start (next line) and we need it to be 255 to assign vertical position value
to enemy ship. I and W are correlated. I is the Y position of our bullet and W is the "I restoring value" as you'll see. Y is player ship y value.
S is a costant value, used for starting x position of player bullet and for player sprite color. Then we have the data for level design strings

6 FORT=3TO6:VDP(2)=TTongueOKE&HF923,T*4:J=STICK(0):?D$+" SCORE";P:B=B+16*(B>0)-256*(B<0):IFB=255THENC=8*(INT(RND(1)*14)+4)

Here start the game loop. Is really nested in a loop where T assume the value we need to "change" screen. We simply change screen by writing its
address nr in the VDP(2) function (the address is equal to this number*1024)Tongueoke&hF923 is the same of poke 63779 but in hexadecimal notation, so we
enable printing on current screen. J assume Stick(0) function value. Stick() return joystick or cursor keys values (depending of its parameter,
0 cursors, 1 joy in port1, 2 joy in port2). Print using escape sequence at 0,0 position SCORE and score value. B (enemy ship horizontal position)
is changed depending of some conditions. If it is bigger than 0 than B wil be decremented by 16 pixels (if condition is true then it value is -1)
if B is lower than 0 than its value will be 255 (because B starts from 271 and subtracting 16 every time its first value below zero will be -1, so
we'll have -1+16*(0)-256*(-1)=-1+0+256=-1+256=255):if B=255 then C (enemy ship vertical position in row nr) will be a random number in the range
of 4-18 (bacground smooth scrolling area)

7 Y=Y-8*(J=5ANDY<137)+8*(J=1ANDY>39)TongueUTSPRITE0,(8,Y),S,0TongueUTSPRITE1,(B,C),8,1:IF(STRIG(0))THENI=Y:K=S

Y is player vertical position. It changes depending some conditions: J(stick function) has to be 5 (for incrementing value by 8 pixels) and Y has
to be lower than 137(ie it can be max 144) or 1 (to decrement it by 8 pixels) and Y has to be higher than 39 (ie it can be min 32). Player ship
sprite and enemy ship sprite are displayed on screen. Putsprite parameters are: number of display plane (lesser nr has most priority),(x,y),color, sprite nr.
Then we check if spacebar is pressed: strig read fire buttons (0 spacebar, 1 joy1 fire1, 2 joy2 fire1, 3 joy1 fire2, 4 joy2 fire2). If spacebar is
pressed then I (vertical pos of bullet) is set equal to player ship vertical pos and K (bullet horizontal pos) is set to 15 (just under the right
part of player ship from where it will be moved during the game loop)

8 IFC=YANDB=15THENVPOKE6912,208:CLS:?D$+")'YOUR SCORE IS";P:T=6:NEXT:?D$+",+GET READY!":RESTORE:FORK=0TO10000:NEXT:GOTO0

If C(enemy vertical position) is equal to Y(player vertical position) and B(enemy horizontal position) is equal to 15 then enemy ship collided
with player ship that is always displayed horizontally from pixel 8 to pixel 24. In that case we clear the screen and write in VRAM the value 208
to the first sprite y position address. 208 is a "magic number": if a sprite y is set to 208 that sprites and all the subsequent sprites are removed
from screen. So setting the first sprite y to 208 removes for sure all sprites from screen. Then we print the score at the center of the screen.
Then we assign value 6 to T and execute a NEXT statement to exit properly from the loop. Print the "GET READY" writing and do a RESTORE (so the program
will be able to read datas again). We do a wait loop before restart the game

9 PUTSPRITE2,(K,I),L,2:K=K+16:IFK>=BANDI=CTHENP=P+10:B=271:I=W:NEXT:GOTO6ELSEIFK=255THENI=W:K=0:NEXT:GOTO6ELSENEXT:GOTO6

Sprite bullet is displayed at K,I coordinates L coloured (to save a char). Its horizontal pos in incremented by 16pixels. If bullet x pos is bigger
or equal than enemy x pos and their y pos is the same then they have collided. Score is incremented by 10, enemy ship x pos is set to 271 (as it was
at the start and to become 255 suddenly), bullet y position is set to 209 (W), out of screen, the loop is updated (next). If the loop is ended the
game continue from line 6 with a goto instruction. Else if bullet horizontal position (K) is 255 then its vertical position is set to 209 (W), out
of screen, and the loop is updated (next). If the loop is ended the game will continue to line 6 thx to the goto instruction. Else if none of prec
conditions are true the loop is updated with next and if it is ended the game loop restart from line 6

Explanation is very easy and complete (like a "for dummy") because I had to explain the code to non msx users
