Hi Randam,
If you already paid for the standard msx version you don't need to preorder again or do anything.
If you insert the standard version cartridge in the msxVR no harm will be done to either of them, don't worry. It will simply not work.
In order for me to put your nick (randam) instead of your name in the credits I need to associate both of them.
Please send me a private message/email/facebook messenger etc. just telling me:
Hey, I am Randam, the purchase was made at this name: *****
So I will be able to write a note in my pre-order list stating: Wants to appear in the credits as RANDAM
Thank you for your support!
@Kai Magazine about digital version, remember that people with no physical GFX9000 only can play it on OpenMSX
The standard MSX version cartridge will not work on msxVR
What? I don't understand this at all. Was not the MSXVR conceived to be 100% MSX compatible? If it does not support the standard MSX version cartridge now it should support it in the future. Is there really a need to create a specific MSXVR version of the physical cartridge?
According to what the msxVR team told me after a long time of testing, yes, it is necessary.
Many people have contacted us requesting this game to work on msxVR one way or another.
We worked together with the msxVR team in order to make it happen, even though the msxVR cartridge is more expensive than the msx standard cart, and we haven't increased the pre-order price, so we assume that loss.
We did our part (many days of testing the game on msxVR and sending reports, etc) and the msxVR team did what they could on their part to make this happen (meaning, msxVR users can play this game as they requested).
It is not ideal but it is what we have. It is out of our hands (Kai magazine's hands).
I am explaining all this to make the point that, we (Kai Magazine) did all we can in our part.
I am sure the msxVR team did as well, since making the game run at full speed with opl4 without hanging the msxVR was really difficult. I can assure you they dedicated many, MANY hours/days/weeks of work to make this possible.
As a plus, now all Kai Magazine games run at full speed (panasonic 2+ turbo cpu is now supported) when using the correct emulation configuration and the msxVR does not hang/reboot with our previous v9990 games, so the emulation side has been significantly improved.
Great job on both accounts Kai Magazine and the VR team. And perhaps somewhere down the line they will be able to make the regular one also work but it is good that the VR owners will be able to use it from the start now too!!!
That's the spirit! ^_^
The standard MSX version cartridge will not work on msxVR
I suppose that your game needs too ressources for this emulator on raspberry Pi, and this is the reason why you had to make a specific version for MSXVR.
No, as I stated previously, the game is exactly the same in both versions.
As I also stated, the standard msx version cartridge does not work on msxVR, this is why we need to make an exclusive version with a msxVR cartridge.
As I also stated, now the game runs at full speed on msxVR since they have improved the emulation.
Hello there!
After reading some comments and receiving some emails I see there is a possibility for confusion because some people tend to read what they want instead of what I actually have written, so I belive a clarification is in order:
I just want to state that I have never claimed to have created my own mapper or that we have created something new.
What I said is the cartridges we use for the standard MSX version go beyond 4096Kb and they are not compatible with msxVR.
Please take a moment to understand and assimilate what I have written here.
Also please understand that my reason to write this message is to defuse some gossip that has started regarding this thread.
Please read carefully what I have written and try not to invent/imagine different meanings other than the exact words I have written.
Next month when people start receiving Metal Dragon, I am sure some people will open the cartridge even before than testing the game in order to saciate their curiosity.
Again:
I have never claimed to have created my own mapper or that we have created something new.
What I said is the cartridges we use for the standard MSX version go beyond 4096Kb and they are not compatible with msxVR.
Take care everyone and have an exelent weekend ^_^
Good to here we'll start receiving the game next month!
Looking forward to it.
