@Ro, ofcourse IE is shit, but that's not the question Wink

Maybe FF3 got stricter than FF2 is and is choking on some bad HTML output. Could be it. However if FF3 is not rendering the same as FF2... well, I guess all hell will break loose Wink

PS . Did you check out the rendering of IE7 at all actually? It's almost identical to FF2. And also let's not pretent that FF is a saint. FF has quite some rendering issues aswell.

As a developer, using CSS massively, I HAVE to check IE browsers. And yup, IE7 still does not conform to the standards.....

indeed IE does not obey the web standards (seems almost typical behaviour for M$) , FF, opera and safari do a lot better job. But in FF2 some doc-types are still rendered in "almost standards compliance mode". (almost standard mode was invented to fix a IE bug) Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

Maybe FF3 goes 100% standard compliance mode (w3c.org webstandards). It may also be a bug in the beta, safari 4 windows had some strange bugs too (but the latest version 3.04 beta seems OK)

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quirks_mode

So: burn your copy of IE and start using a better browser!

Note btw that the W3C defines 'guidelines', rather than 'standards'. Although I prefer to think of them as standards myself ;-)

[edit]Ever seen MRC through the eyes of Opera? It's a complete disaster.[/edit]

Some webguidelines ARE standards and have ISO numbers iirc.

Disaster?!? Only the smilies won't work properly, they are not placed at the cursor position, but after the latest entered character.

It looks pretty good in Opera 9.25 (=latest version, I am posting this message with it), only the left column is larger than in IE6, FF2.0.0.11 or safari 3.04B (all on XP), there is a strange behaviour to this left column anyway: in other browsers it starts about half the width of the screen while loading, and ends up a lot smaller when all content is loaded.

If you would analyse msx.org with w3c online tools (or the webdev toolbar in FF2), you'll find some small errors in the html / css code....

but that is in the html only. my guess is that most changes in FF3 will be in the interpretation of the css.....
The css has some errors too.Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

How close exactly is FF3 to a release candidate?
