yes and that's how the downfall of MSX all began...
if you want people to create and release new games and keep doing so then respect their work.
DONT PIRATE THEIR SOFTWARE NOT EVEN FOR PERSONAL USE (whatever that might mean???!)
unless the author gives you EXPLICIT permission to do so !
Hey man, you are a kind of stupid people.
for personal use i *mean* that because i cannot pull a msx cart into my pc for use with openMsx emulator, i need to have a physical dump. It's out of question to have every day an msx machine on my desktop simply to play it when i want.
If my intention was to do piracy i never asked for this question.
So, before judging me as a pirate, please TURN ON YOUR BRAIN.
The Manbow2 mapper has been supported since openMSX 0.7.0. If you dump your original cart on a real MSX or using a Game Reader it will run. Today it was announced that there will be a new batch of Manbow2 carts produced, so please use that opportunity to get an original from Sunrise. It includes an SCC and it can save to flash, so it's not only a nice game but also some cool hardware for a low price.
Why? I've already payed for it. Even " a second hand. " cartridge.
This is such a stupid discussion, especially the people who think making copies is wrong, the're hypocrits!
Why? Because we all have MP3's on our computer (and they are not Rip's from our own CD's!)
We have all played SD-Snatcher, an no we didn't buy them from Ebay!
You know what I mean, if MSX died because of making copies... you misters hypocrit... helped too!!
I have a (self made) rom dump of Manbow2, and an original.
But I wouldn't feel bad If I just had the Rom file, just like I don't feel bad about the mp3 of the Prodigy i just downloaded!
I'd even dare to say that MSX survived for so long *because* of piracy..
Without emulators and ROMs, quite a lot of people would've long forgotten MSX already..
YARR!
(oops, did I just break someone's copyright by adapting that smiley?) :RNFF:
(for those who <sarcasm>aren't artistic enough to understand my UBER pixeling skills </sarcasm>, it is supposed to be a pirate boat)
Guess what: Playstation 1 surpassed Sega Saturn because pirate PS1 games were easy to find than pirate Saturn games.
As Moniz said, we all have mp3s, we all have a huge collection of MSX roms and dsks, we all have emulators and roms for several systems.
All that without owning the originals, probably.
So, we're all criminals.
Smooth Criminals.
POW!

I Agree with you.
Especially considering that i'm in the same situation. (for the spacemanbow rom)
Anyway, have you managed to run on openMSX? my dump seem so hang if launched from catapult.
Maybe it's a bad dump, or is the checksum same as openMSX romdb?

Don't know. Just tested with blueMSX and works fine.
on openMSX hang up when i start the game, during the intro. I also hear a distorted SCC sound.
The problem is that i NEED openMSX because it has the "vdp busy indicator". I'm not interested in piracy or in playing the game.
Pratically what i need to see is how much is the vdp used during the game.
I'm launching from a nms8245 machine on openmsx with 512 K of Ram & scc+. The bios rom are the original ones.
Anyone can help me please?
Additional info: on bluemsx when i insert the rom file I MUST TELL that is of type Manbow2. By itself the emulator is not guessing the correct type. If i do not choose the correct one, i get the same hang up that openMSX has.
I guess that i need to provide some hint to openMSX to properly work with this file, but i don't know how i can do it.
Vague or not, the law is there. Why don't you show me those exceptions?
Oh that's easy.
The company I work for deals with this on a daily basis:
We have a certain piece of software of which someone only purchases 1 copy (1 license for one computer).
To ensure this we made a copy-protection.
The consumer complains he cannot make a copy and that it is his right as stated in the law. And takes us to court.
The judge rules in favor of us and you know why ?
We have a right to copy-protect our software. As long as we provide a means for the consumer to receive a new copy of the software when the previous copy should fail in anyway ! Ofcourse the old-copy has to be returned in order to receive a new one.
so here is your exception from the REAL world.

you're so LAME !
If you like the music buy it ! and support the Artist so he/she can make some more music for you to enjoy.
if no one buys it and everone downloads it how can this Artist keep making music ?
it's a simple concept....but then maybe still too complicated for you?
