@iamweasel2: No, I'm not that sure. Smile

Native English speakers, what do you think?

BTW, I already implemented it on the cartridge and it's ready for the release as soon as the tests end.

I would write :

"Certificate of Merit

We would like to honor the contest winners for their excellent work on the "King's Valley - The Seal of El Giza" custom stage contest. Please see this as an award of excellence"

GoodMSX lists four different SHA1 checksums as the original Vampire Killer ROM. Which one is the real thing? Or there is more than one release of this game? It would be a pity to work on the wrong version...

1st ROM: b58e77f819dfbde72845801cff4b4e0a2f20ef5f

2nd ROM: 5ef7d03b138a2023f6def241b671c666f97ed83b

3rd ROM: 5460a88c25386b1b950b57fc1325fd75587cc825

4th ROM: e78511a2b8cca37a96aa396c938863c92a20c797

All are the real thing, that's why it's called GoodMSX. Apparently 4 versions exists. But I don't know the differences.

About King's Valley II enhancement patches,

@snakepow

What's the SHA1 checksum of the original rom you used for patching?

Also, could you send me some ELG files that are having trouble? Did you test the game on another MSX machine? Does the problem only happens on the OCM?

Please answer the questions this forum thread, as it's easier to follow.

Hello,

ROM's SHA1 checksum is revised as your text file says ( 5ec8811254dc762c6852289a08acf22954404f0d )

I have no other HDD machines than OCM. It has been tested on HB-F9S with External diskdrive and MegaflashROM and works good reading from floppy disk. Also using OCM connected to this external diskdrive works correct (reading from floppy ) . Problem is always when you read from OCM' sd card, and enhanced MSX1 version has not the problem, only enhanced MSX2 version.

First time you load the custom stage it works good, but when die (game over), if you reload stage ( F5 pressed ) it appears a phantom bad stage ( the game invents it and is not playable ). If you don't reload stage ( F5 is not pressed ), then title screen appears and if you try to load other time a custom stage, game says "File not found". Ah other thing, this phantom bad stage (that game invents), always is the same stage, independent to the custom stage you load. Sorry for my english.

Perhaps problem is working with Mega SCSI Hard disk? I don't know. I will do more tests using BlueMSX and MegaSCSI emulation. Other thing, SD card is FAT16 formatted, and system work with MSX-DOS2 version 2.4x.

Bye and thank you very much for your reply.

@snakepow

I found the problem. It seems that the MSX-DOS2 places the routine called by the F37Dh BDOS jump too low on memory, and the theme-loading routine of the game is overwriting it.

I'll study a word-around for this problem. Thanks for reporting it! Smile

======

To TNI team (COMMAND v2.44) and Nestor (Nextor DOS): It would be interesting to move as much as possible of the DOS to the memory-mapper, to release more memory on the base 64KB area. Akin to what HIMEM+EMM386 did for the MS-DOS.

This would solve a lot of compatibility problems between the MSX-DOS1 and MSX-DOS2 (or Nextor too, btw)

@Paulbrk

The production "pipeline" has 4 games (secret!) on the testing stages that will be released on the next weeks. It would be of a great help if you could test them. Smile

After those 4 games, I'll return to the FireHawk HDD development and I'm expecting to release it's final version, solving all graphics glitches that remaining and including some more optimizations.

Please, put in the "pipeline" the Nemesis games, I like you to put the DPPL (dinamic palette per level) to make one palette per level, that will make the games much more atractive on MSX2, MSX2+ and Turbor.

I have palettes for all the levels of Nemesis and the boss, you know is the same ship on all the levels, with new palette per level will look different.
