OMG! Wake me up, I think I'm dreaming
Super cool! And the real-time transposing without affecting sample duration is something Amiga Paula chip users can be jealous of .
Not per se... There was a tracker on the Amiga that also did just that. Quite CPU intensive, can't remember the name though. And that tracker never broke the Sound/Pro/Noise/...-Tracker "standard".
But, more ontopic: Really, really impressive
Anyway, updated Realfun online.
Very nice update!
Oooh. Love seing this progressing. Magic!
phew, Peter, that's just.... wow!
This player with this kind of songs have to become the bgm of a msxdev game
Come to think about it, it's been a long time since you guys entered the compo
Thanks for all the kind words! But honestly most of the credit goes to ARTRAG and his voice encoder, that is the source of the magic.
Implementing the sample playback in the z80 re-player is next on the list. However, there are several ways how to do so. Each with its own pros and cons, which makes a bit complicated... I need to think on it a bit more. On the plus side, I did already reserve a bit for sample playback in the song encoding stream, so no big reworks expected there
I am tempted joining this years compo, got an idea and all, but we'll have to see how wel everything goes
Realfun 3 is really impressive! Congratulations, GhostwriterP!
Looking forward to see a demo/game using it (^_^)
@GhostwriterP
eager to see a standalone re-player able to support speech. You should definitely use it in an msxdev entry. If you need additional inspiration for an msx2 submission, let me know, I can share with you code for horizontal scrolling in screen 8 or for multi-directional scrolling + parallax in screen 5.
Very impressive! Indeed, it'd be very cool to see it in a game/demo. I haven't followed the whole thread, so, I'm not sure if it uses a lot of CPU or not, but if it does, at least it could be used in title screen music, for example
It works on the isr with minimal CPU overhead
It costs 32 +2 byte per frame actually
