What is the source of the images and on what platform do you convert? Is it an MSX tool converting from another screen mode to screen 2 or is it a PC tool converting a GIF, JPEG or whatever file to screen 2?
try and compare with this:

Meits, I'm programming it in Blitz Basic. It's a PC program, since an MSX would be TOO slow for that. Basically it loads an image and tries to create an MSX version of it.
Artrag, I know Jannone's converter. I think it's really impressive, but I don't like dithered images for MSX. IMHO, dithered images only look nice in higher resolutions. My converter tries to mimick new colors by interlacing lines. I thnik it looks better for low resolutions, specially if you're displaying it on an CRT TV.
Anyway, I'm more curious about your opinions on image quality.
I really like them, the color are nice and appears to have more colors on screen. Good job.
Good job!
Nice to have a converter with a different approach, it complements existing converters rather than competes with them. The pics look good.
Looking great!
Very impressive.
I am thinking to the tons of black and white loading screens of the '80s imported from spectrum.
With a tool like this msx probably would be more appreciated in that years!
Very very nice.
Like you, I never liked dithered images on the MSX.
But your technique of interlaced colors is very well put to use with this converter.
Very good work.
Nice new approach. Though I think you're still doing dithering, just not Floyd-Steinberg style or ordered or other conventional kind of dithering. Are you directing certain colors to odd/even lines?
