But it's perfectly possible to make nice games in BASIC.
I am never going to learn assembly either; just looking at it gives me a headache.

I'll let you know I am just now programming a game in MSX BASIC (it's the first time a program for the platform in over 20 years) and your comment made me feel really discouraged. It likely won't be any good, sure, but it's an honest effort, there's nothing "fake" about it!
