I think this is probably the rarest of all Konami software for the MSX. I´ve never seen one for sale in auction sites and there´s very few references to it in here. Apparently it´s obscenely rare.

http://www.generation-msx.nl/software/konami/japanese-word-p...

So... Out of curiosity I was thinking on doing a "sensus", just like AtariAge does for the über-rare Atari games.

Who has it? How did you get yours? Do you have pics of it? ;)

I think (THINK!) we will have a hard time listing 10 copies of it. Heck, I doubt we can track five copies of it!

Considering it was only released in Japan, was only of interested to a Japanese audience, is not a game, and has no real usefulness any longer. And there seem to be few Japanese users on here (at least those willing to post), I think your kicking in an open door...

Hi there,

That´s the whole point of a thread like this: To sort out how many copies of a really really rare piece of software are around. That´s a very common thing in other retro communities. For example: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/162094-i-am-updating-the-ma...

(Magicart, BTW, is not a game. And has no usefulness any longer. And it´s worth 5k dollars LOL! )

Since Konami is one of the most sought after publishers on MSX and a lot of people plan / hope / dream on completing a set that might be useful - Even if it is to make people quit the hope :)

I know at least one user or MRC who have one. Let´s see if he shows up in here or if he´s shy. ;)

I have one in my collection, I have had also another (sold/traded a long time ago and I don't remember to who) and have still part of the third - Konami Kanji ROM cartridge EC702. Whereabouts of the rest parts of this third set is unknown. This cart is for sale/trade as well.

The first complete set I bought from Yahoo Japan auctions almost 18 years ago, from the second I'm not sure, but quite surely same source and bit later. Loose cart came from UK, maybe 15 years ago.

Pics - yeah, I took pics from the complete set and I also uploaded them to funet archives back then. Nowadays the pics are here: http://www.msxarchive.nl/pub/msx/photos/othercovers/

And about Kanji cartridge - it's not completely useless. If you have MSX computer without Kanji ROM, then you can use the cart for getting characters working in the software.

Hi, I also have one complete and is in Brazil. a few years ago, when I bought mine, I did a search on the internet and only found only 5 possible copies of this konami editor in different places. It was one of the hardest items to get in my msx collection.

As Ota231 already stated, there are more than the few I have had in my hands. My own feeling is that there are like 5-10 copies around outside Japan. Really hard one to find and has kept it's rarity during the years as well.

Many other really rare Konami pieces have decreased in rarity scale as many more copies have been found from Japan. For example A1 Spirit was incredibly rare sight 15-18 years ago. It took a long before second and third cart were found. IMO, nowadays A1 is only "rarish" (complete package with all manuals is hard to come by though) and several controllers are available for buying just at the moment as well.

Great to hear that, thank you! Do you have pics of it?

De que parte do Brasil você é? Smile

Do you remember how did you get yours? Was it directly from Japan? Any chance that it´s the "missing one" from Saku / Stt1?

I got one off Dennis Hemmings (Konami UK PR retired) which went to STT, I didn't understand it at all, i didn't read Japanese at that time, nor do i now Sad

I think Dennis has since died, not been able to get in touch, I did briefly speak and meet Mark Smith, but he seems to have disappeared?

Yeah, that is the separate cartridge. However, nothing else came with it.

Mark Smith was also in the Konami UK?
