What is exactly the function of the MSX reset/pause module, can you give some more information.

Ah, it just connects the reset or wait line from the module port to gnd with a standard button as a switch. Kinda useful for debugging and developing, since not all MSX1s have a reset button.
Just a small tip: keep in mind that the MSX slot specification lists the /RESET signal as output, thus this shortcut can damage some machines. AFAIK, this is particularly the case of the Sony HB-F1XD, HB-F1XDJ and HB-F1XV. Probably there are others.
I don't want to be picky, it's just an advice to protect those >20 year old precious machines.

Good to know Canon V-20 and HitBit HB-75P seem to reset fine, tho.
Some models have a simpler circuit and just connect the /RESET of the slot directly to the /RESET of the Z80 and a very simple power-on reset based on a RC circuit. For those models this external reset button will work fine. But you have to be very careful and know the schematics of the particular MSX you're going to use to connect this cartridge.
The only 100% reliable solution is an internal reset button, and designed with knowledge of that machine's schematics. Otherwise it may seem to work fine and reset the MSX, but after some time you may fry the power-on reset circuit of that motherboard as it heavily depends on how it was designed.
The power-on reset is built-in on every motherboard, and it forces a reset of the CPU for the required amount of cycles on every power up. If it's damaged, the computer will not boot properly.
Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction as I can't seem to find a PCB layout for MSX cartridges. Only after a simple 32k/64k ROM cartridge PCB for re-releasing some of my games from the 80's in small quantities. I already have some Sunrise cartridge cases (would have loved to have been able to print them as per this article ). I have several PCB design software packages (free ones) but I am in no way an expert. I made up some PCBs for the original Spectravideo and they didn't work, so I thought maybe trying MSX first to work it out in a platform with more information, but I can't find any layout files anywhere. I do have a template for the edge connector but that is all.
Any help would be appreciated.
