Does anyone have a good working version of the game 'Minder'?
All the versions I've downloaded sofar tend to crash after a few minutes of playing... Music keeps on playing, but you're not able to put any text in anymore, so you can't play on.
First I thought it was a faulty emulator, but as I have a MSX now and the same problems keeps on turning up, it's rather a faulty backup, or it was even in the Original game (Can't imagine that to be honest, I've read reviews of the game in the past and they never talked about crashes)...

Anyway, ... a working version, anyone??? Smile

It might be because of the MSX used. Try it on a Toshiba HX-10 for instance. That machine was popular in the UK, and most (if not all) UK software seems to work on it. (Many UK titles have bad slot/ram programming...)

Mmm... you might have a point there... I was already wondering if a MSX2 isn't the problem, as I used to have this game when I had a VG8020 and on that computer it worked flawless...
On my 8250 it gives problems... So much for a standard computer, hahahaha!

Tried the poke-1,170 ... remembered it from the old days, but unfortunately it doesn't work... I think Manuel is right.

Try it on the VG8020 in an emulator and if it works then, it's the game that's broken.

(Note that there are 2 types of VG8020... the VG8020/00 and the VG8020/20. The former is much simpler than the latter. I guess you had the former (I had the latter, which required poking)).

Yes, you're right, there are 3 types. But in this case AFAIK 20 and 40 are similar (same slot layout). Right?

There's always the "other" poke:

poke-1,(15-peek(-1)\16)*17

Does this actually work?

I'm sure I read on the internet there was stuff done on JVC HC-7's that ended up being LOL on HX-10's

I tried the (new) poke and started the computer with CTRL press... and guess what... it works! :-)

Thank you all!
