Hi guy's

Last year in the Netherlands we had the warmest winter in the Netherlands with a soft ruler from 5 to 12 degrees. Now I want to have a real good winter. Preferably with snow. Last year we had no snow outside. And that I will not like. Actually I really love snow and ice. Well now I hope that the time really comes this year. Snow. But we have to wait and see. Shocked!

This is a terrible name for a topic! "How will the Winter of 2014-2015 are."!? You should at least say "How will the Winter of 2014-2015 be?" or "What will Winter 2014-2015 be like?" You may be thinking that I couldn't say this in Dutch, but you'd be wrong. "Hoe zult 't Winter 2014-2015 zijn?" or perhaps "Hoe zult 't Winter van 2014-2015 wezen?". Other mistakes are forming a plural with an apostrophe s (i.e. "Hi guy's"), as well as starting a sentence with the word "and". What is a "soft ruler"? It sounds like a technical drawing instrument which bends so you can draw curves. You mean "a temperature range of 5-12 degrees". Try watching "Eastenders" on BBC1 via cable TV to improve your English. I've stopped watching "Eastenders" myself, though. BTW, I'd love there to be some snow in England at Christmas!

I have to be honest: that's not correct Dutch at all. Tongue

OK then, what's wrong with it? I think I know. "Hoe zal 't winter 2014-2015 zijn?" or "Hoe zal de winter 2014-2015 zijn", or perhaps "Hoe zal deze winter zijn?"

Of course, I know the names of all the 12 Dutch provinces and where they are. In case anyone is wondering, here's a map. The important thing to remember at the moment is that Nijmegen where the MSX Fair takes place next month is in Gelderland.
