Earlier this year, MSX user Manuel inquired on the forums about the MSX-Engine magazines, made in the 90s by Dutch MSX club MSX-Engine. The forum discussion ultimately led to contacts with one of the original creators of the magazine, some donations from users and MRC chipping in with the other half of the money to get the magazines scanned.

As a result of all the donations and the hard work, scans of all 11 MSX-Engine Magazines are now available for you all to read (if you can read Dutch, that is). They can be found in the MRC Downloads Database. Enjoy!

Nice initiative, but why are all scans "wavy"?

Some pages have pretty extreme 'wave' distortions indeed.
Was this scanned by a professional scanning company?

No, Look decided to buy a book scanner (for much more money than was collected) and scanned them himself. He didn't want to take the magazines apart and also didn't want to send them to a company with the risk of them getting damaged or lost. Professional scanning companies scanning also mention that the result will be straighter when the magazines are cut into separate sheets. So that wouldn't have completely avoided it either. Moreover, some pages are wavy by themselves. After all, the magazines were duplicated with simple copying machines....

Anyway, this is what it is. I was pretty glad I could read all of them finally Smile

Indeed, I had it in my MSX-ENGINE magazine for some extend too.
