I agree, and indeed like mars2000you suggested I often use Google to search (with site:msx.org/forum/ in the query).

V9990 isn't even in the MSX standard. Shouldn't even be on msx.org. For the rich and famous. Whats next? An ARM, a GPU and a touchscreen in a MSX slot just providing +5Volt from the MSX. Tongue

Precisely this is something that makes him worthy of a forum.
It is good to give new life to MSX. I am not conservative at all.

No need for a forum dedicated to the V9990, the OPLL4, the SN76489, the MSX-DOS2, SymbOS , etc.

It's just a matter of logic not conservative.

I understand that opl4, msx dos 2, SymbOS, etc also deserve a forum. Or not none
I am interested in a site for the exchange of experiences related to V9990, be it thread or forum. It is the same to me.
I insist for friends who say that this is not MSX, what I respect:
The V9990 is the immediate future of the MSX. For a lover of programming asm, it is very motivating.

Did you ever try the filter bar on the left hand side after you searched? You can filter on type, author, year, etc.

For example, here's a query that shows all (just 1...) posts from Grauw in 2018 in the MSX Talk > Development forum with the search term v9990. So I'd say the search is actually pretty good (but the UI/UX probably makes it harder to use than it needs to be).

More on topic, it's easy enough to create a new forum for the V9990 (or restructure things if it makes sense).

Last time we did this, we actually had a list of existing forum topics to 1) show that there was enough discussion & need for it and 2) to be able to fill the new topic with some good starter topics already. So in stead of this yes/no debate of opinions, how about we let the numbers speak? Maybe, if you guys doing a bit of digging around in the existing topics to see if there's actually enough discussion about it on the forums, that would help make the decision?

and why not make a "hardware 90s" forum, with opl4, v9990, SCSI / IDE / SD?

Because that will bring confusion. Developers and graphic designers will choose which forum? Development, Graphics and Music or V9990? Same for OPL4, etc. In addition what to do messages already posted, someone moves them? I do not think anyone will want to do it.
There is already a quirk in the forums. The forum "OpenMSX" is already too much in the forums. Why is this emulator separated from others? You should either "OpenMSX" merge it with "Emulation", or put sub-forums in "Emulation" like below.

"Emulation" + -> "BlueMSX"
            + -> "fMSX"
            + -> "OpenMSX"
            + -> "Others"

As for me, I think it's better to merge "OpenMSX" with "Emulation". No need for so many sub forums.

No, it's probably Nextor. V9990 cartridges have been around since then. They are again on sale by some guys in recent times so users will probably a little increase, that's all.

With all the respect to all the opinions, I think that surely with threads like this, people will be more and more interested in the v9990. Yes, Nextor is extraordinary, there is no discussion. But little by little if the programmers are motivated, and new interfaces of this hardware are appearing, there will be more and more interest for this. And yes, it is future.

New cartridges are there. I think people will be more and more interested in the v9990 if we develop software for that, not putting users into a separate forum. It can even have the opposite effect. People who do not have v9990 will not go in this forum and will not see if anything becomes interesting. A V9990 with HDMI output could also attract people by cons.
