MSX Fair Nijmegen 2021

The organization was able to book the same location as the previous couple of times again, Dorpshuis De Lèghe Polder, for the 2021 MSX fair. This time on ~~February 20th~~ ~~July 3rd~~ October the 16th

Things will be very much like last time.... except for Covid-19. So, this will mean that there will be special rules and regulations to adhere to. But as things are still developing rapidly, there is no way of knowing which they will be in 2021. Since a meeting held in February, as originally planned, was no longer going to be a viable option, it has been postponed to October the 16th 2021. Let's hope things will have calmed down by then!

So, the fair is planned, but there will be updates which will specify the rules and regulations that must be adhered to. Keep an eye on the site for them!

Other than that, things are the same as last years.

You can come at 9:00 to help set up the room. Everything is expected to be ready for visitors at 10:00.

As usual, no food or drinks may be consumed in the gym, to avoid sticky floors. Buy your food and drinks at the bar and consume them close to it. You can't bring your own.
There will be Chinese food catering again and like last time, if you're interested to participate, you must reserve up front and confirm with payment. The amount is to be announced, but it will probably be about 15 euros. That way, there are no financial surprises when the caterer has to be paid

The organization hopes to welcome you all there again on Saturday the 16th of October 2021, so write that date down in your agenda!

As usual, all information and details, such as location and the booth registration that should appear two months before the event, can be found on the MSX Fair Nijmegen website.

It would have been the easy choice to skip this year, but I’m glad of Manuel’s perseverance and here’s to hoping the situation in February will allow the event to go through. I will be there!

It'll be all depending on the virus whether I'll be there. Just a question as I have never been there before, how about the space? Is it large? How many people have been visiting in the past?

With the amount of room available it should be easy to keep a 1.5m distance in any case. But we will have to see what the rules are in February.

I am really looking forward to this event!
Since I rediscovered the MSX system a few years ago, I planned to come to Nijmegen!
Corona virus should not be an excuse for me next year.

Who knows what travel arrangements will be in place from the UK next year? I might need a visa to visit Europe? I think if i am going to travel there I will know nearer the time, with all the corona stuff going on.

I hope the pound surges against the Euro also Higher spending power

The UK government might well be putting Leicester into Tier 3 lockdown, which means I don’t think i’ll Be able to travel anywhere, not even in the UK. I can’t make any plans ahead of time

Now they are talking about locking us down for two months, no pubs or restaurants open! Not healthy for me? Still should be able save some pounds, but will travel bans be lifted? I was in London, saw the Eurostar trains, and just dreamed about travelling to Holland....

People may have noticed there is no way to register for the fair yet. That's because of the Covid19 situation. The Netherlands is currently in a lock-down (like many countries) at least until the 19th of January. At or around that time the government will announce what will be the next measures to take.
As the current situation looks bad, we will not open registration until the 19th, when more information is available on the situation for February.

Maybe time for a change of annual dates? Move the fair from winter (when the situation is always bad, and it seems like it will be like that for quite a number of years at least) to some month in summer? Somewhen between May and August ...

No Covid and winter time is great, but... i don't expect it would be better in few next years at least. Lockdowns and stuff, cancellation... you know. Another way is to switch to online meeting but hey, are we moving towards having a Matrix-society so fast? So maybe summertime until things get better? (RU meetings are hold twice per year so our Spanish friends probably are not that much frustrated if winter one is cancelled)

With the current measures, there is no hope we can have a decent fair in one month. So, we have postponed the fair to July 3rd 2021. We hope next year the fair can be held in February again.

Oh, I always do, too. Therefore I always keep a box of tissues at my desk this time of year. But I guess visitors will assume it's meant for other bodily fluids (which is only half true).

I have just been vaccinated, but I still consider myself a minority in Germany.
It makes little sense to me to organise such a meeting with restrictions. Until the situation is defused, I will not participate in larger events. I look forward to a healthy reunion next year.

I do not the one to make the descisions here, but IMHO if the fair can't be organised July, I would (advice to) skip a year instead of moving it to October.

I'm not a frequent flyer to Nijmegen, but skipped one once due to snow, and we all know what a shallow white carpet of snow does to the national public transport system

I loved the fair, and my son loved it even more. He got to play with an MSXVR and create his own level in a new Eggeland game. It was well worth the ride. Thanks for organizing Manuel!

It was , as usual, a great pleasure to attend the meeting, the atmosphere is really cool there. You are, in the netherlands very lucky to get that type of event, nothing happen anymore in Belgium nor in France as far as I know.
