Maybe it will be interesting for someone. I created new tool for Windows named DaDither that allows you to convert images into SCx files. The tool can create SC2, SC5, SC6, SC7 and SC8 files. How interface looks like:

Is that example screenshot converting to MSX1 Screen 2? If it is, it looks very nice!

Being Windows-only I cannot use it easily (any chance of open sourcing? Wink), but could you give us a hint of different functionalities? for example, I see a menu to choose "platform" and "method". Which options are there?

Yes

Currently available platforms are: IBM (CGA/EGA), MSX, Sinclair QL, Timex, ZX Spectrum, ZX Spectrum Next and and a few more little-known platforms from the ex-USSR.

Dithering methods are standard: Floyd, Jarvis, Burkes, Sierra, Stucku, Atkinson.

Quite impressive, the results in SCREEN8:

Will you also be adding Screen 10/11/12? Or is this outside the scope, since dithering isn't needed in those modes.
Maybe it's also an idea to add the possiblity to automaticly create and MSX2 palette for Screen2?

The final result after loading it on your MSX looks quite a bit different. I think the program doesn't show the color clash you get on your MSX.

For Screen 10/11/12 I can't help you.
On MSX2 you can set the palette (also for the MSX1 screenmodes) by using the COLOR= command.
You can also have a look at how it's done here: http://msx.jannone.org/conv/

Also a nice addition might be the SymbOS SGX File Format:

And where is the palette stored? Inside sc2 file or in separated file? Maybe you have a sample of such sc2 file?

I already tried it but without success: converting image stage never ends.

It is already planned to add.

No. The palette is set seperatly. You get the "normal" sc2 file. It works like this:

Ok, I see. So do you want my tool to show the same "This is how you can display it" section?

That is an option. People can than copy/past the info. Or give the possibility to save it as a .BAS file as well.
I've been playing around with your tool this evening. It works really nice btw!
