This got rejected before but Pitfall 2 definitely scrolls (smooth on msx) and is a platform game (linked to scrolling bit above).
It scrolls when you move up down the ladder between floors, or when you fall, or die, and when you fly with the balloon.
[*]Iligks Episode One - Theseus. Strange game. But so different. Graphically not top 50, but it was made in 1984. Smooth scroll in any direction (although color-bleed of course). Faster screen updates than any of those spectrum ports which are doing some of the same. Not sure if it is any fun, but it got my attention.
Theseus is great fun! Especially for when it was made, it's an extremely engaging game. Highly recommended!

Where does it have colour bleed in Theseus?
One of my favorite: HYDEFOS
Great game. Must have finished it at least 15 times. But I've never come across any platforms in it.

I think they mean that the lava will sometimes 'shake' into the walls for a small second.

Ops!... I had left out the word "platform" ...
However, in screen 4 it is not expensive at all, nor really difficult.
Quesion is, why aren't there more games doing it? Possibly because of the jerky border? I get that, but there are ways around it. Strangely only one game in the list does it though. @journey mentions Hydefos --which isn't a platformer, but still does this, setadjust and is using sprites for edges. Ok, so it limits your available sprites, but there are ways around that too. On that note - one game that also is standing out a bit from the rest is
- Invasion of the zombie monsters
I should have had that in my "honorable mention" earlier. This game seems to have been made without sprites. Still, the main char is looking really good, the animation is nice and the action is fast. Cleverly made with layers of scrolling backgrounds, as well as the main char can walk behind things.

Sorry, my bad! Should absolutely be on the list!

No way around that on the MSX1. Scrolling patterns is one thing, but the color-limitation of two colors per 8 pixels does this:
Spectrum games have this all the time, but MSXers are not so used to it, I guess? Probably not a big deal, but it's a matter of opinion :-)

I know, sometimes I do things like that too, hehehe.
Did you ever see the 'true' ending of Hydefos? I did not know about that until the patch was released:

(sorry for off-topic, will crawl back under my rock now)

As you already mentioned - Psycho World, of the same developer, does the same and is actually a scrolling platformer.

If I remember/know correctly, I think disabling the HW sprites alltogether speeds up everything. Even in BASIC.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant! :)
And I agree, it's not really a big deal. It doesn't hurt the general flow and look of the game in any way.
