Hi all.

Been tinkering with my precious NMS8235 after a while and I noticed that Road Fighter does not have the engine sound at all :O I cannot spot any other missing sounds, but engine is definitely not there. How is this possible? Is this a known issue or is there something wrong with my Philips? Tried with the standard version and the Konami game Collection Special version with SCC music, same result. I kinda hear a silent "audio starting pof" when the engine supposedly should "play".

Same goes for Hyper Rally Sad All the other sounds are three but the engine sounds isn't. What's broken in my Philips?

*EDIT* Hmm. Seems to work when run from DSK-image. At least Hyper Rally did. Why is this happening? Megaflash causing this?

NMS8235 modded as MSX2+
256 KB RAM
Megaflash SCC+ SD

do you hear three consecutive notes if you type this in Basic?

PLAY "C","R2D","R1E"

And do you have the MFR's internal PSG switched on while you play its music through your MSX? Two the same audio channels might clash with each other. If the phase is reversed while playing exactly at the same time they'll cancel each other out.

Thanks Meits for a quick reply. The test plays just fine Smile Seems to be ROM related. Running from disk works. See updated original post.

How do I select between the original PSG and the Megaflash one?

If you flash a game using opfxsd you can add /P to switch it on.
I just tested it on a same setup as yours and there's no problem.

Thanks Meits Smile I still wonder how to accomplish that with SofaRun. Still, the most important thing is that my Philips is alive and well Smile

*EDIT* Setting the PSG now works with the latest SofaRun beta Smile

Just to precise for other users: the SofaRun beta does not have any fix for sound: it's just that you have been able to revert your settings to default (the corrupted settings probably defined something like PSG to SCC or PSG ports redirection...).
