It's fun to get stuck in the game and search for hints in its source code itself Big smile
I have the same problem Konaminan.
I only have two candles and a note with the position of the candles on the five tips star, but I don't have the third candle. I'm looking for the third candle in the source code.
Santi, please, upload a longplay video if you can.
Thanks in advance.
Just found the 3rd candle. Now I am stuck at the pentagram. tried every possible rotation of the 3 candles....
Damn!
spoilers dude.. (sigh)
hardly a spoiler. Anyway, will use spoiler tags. thanks you.
Did you find the book that tells you where to put'm?
yes. there is also line marked, could be the door... but pentagram orientation is not clear to me.
OK, Now! Exact positioning is the key....
@ro: ah yes!! there was a bug in the ending sequence (that is more likely to occur in 60Hz machines). I fixed it yesterday night. I'll update the repo this weekend with a new version after a bunch of other bug fixes. Sorry about that!!
And haha, nice to see you are past the candle puzzle @defdanny
@Juan Luis: ok!! I might wait a couple of weeks to give a chance to people to solve it and then upload a video with clues if no one has uploaded one yet
After some time playing, more comments here:
- +1 to the password suggestion, no matter if ROM is increased to 64kb but it's really recomended. Right now I'm playing on emulator using savestate, I'm not able to be playing so much time continuosly.
- Some control improvements. The +45 degree system is good, actually is not easy to move N-S-E-W with isometric view. Also instead of Space+M (I never tought it was a natural combination) there could be more mappings like Z+X or X+C (used by Microcabin) that is more natural place for Button1 - Button2.
Thanks for this great job!
I had a hard time to solve the candles puzzle too... until I realized that the correct perspective was the one of the character, not the one I had behind the screen!
I really like this game and that's a big deal, because I've never liked isometric games. I think that with saving/passwords it would certainly be suitable for a physical release.
Finally had the time to play around a bit. I like the game. Although I had the same feeling I had with Suite Macabre. When I get inside, I have no clue what to do. In the end it helped to see the Youtube video. And the solution for progress is the same as for Suite Macabre: climb objects! In Westen House you have to take this quite literally, as you can only pick up items if you have jumped on top of them.
Once you get the hang of that, the game takes you a bit more by the hand. And one item will lead you to another. I have already found the place where the candles need to go.
Anyway, I vote against a password system. For what I can see now, if you know what to do you can quickly progress from the beginning and return to where you ended last time. Back in the days most games did not have passwords. And most MSXdev games this year don't have either.
