I am trying to build Wozblaster, but I can not locate any of YMF278B-F chip, but I managed to locate original Sega 315-5560 chip instead. I know that chip is strip down of the YMF278B-F but will it make the Wozblaster work?

I only see it has 28 channels of wave or fm. Don’t know how to read that . Can you select that per channel?

Anyway the opl4 has 24 channels of pcm and 18 channels of fm. Besides the pin compatibility you also need register compatibility . Probably possible to make a opl4 music replayed for this chip, but that will require new software

It’s a different chip indeed, with different pinout. Only internal design is inherited (mainly the PCM Wave part) but it has no FM part.

Thanx all for explaining. I am an ambitious beginner Cool

I acquired Sega model 1 sound board and I am intending to see how I can use it on the msx. For now I am thinking of feeding it from the cartridge slot with the needed input. But i am not sure if need to do any chip reprogramming of it. I will share pictures of the board.

If anyone is interested in giving some help, that would be much appreciated.
