Amazing port indeed!

Btw, never heard before that "Last Ninja 2" score; but it's definitely Tangerine Dream's "Midnight in Tula" LOL!

How this works? there is an emulation of 6510 machine code? and does it need a sid card.

My neighbour has a 100% organic SID emulator. He sometimes kicks the cat. Smile

Very nice work, in any case!

@PingPong: Sounds like it is the PSG playing.

Is an ordinary MSX fast enough to do this real-time?

Congratulations, Nyyrikki! Very impressive indeed!

What about an SCC support, for the triangle/sawtooth waves? Smile

This makes me wonder about something...

1) On SG-1000 gameports for MSX, the sound can't be perfect because of some small hardware differences between the SN76489 and the AY-3-8910.
2) On this SID player, the sound emulation can't be perfect because of some hardware differences between the SID and PSG.

Both cases are impressive examples of programming that caused a good reaction on the MSX community.

And what about PSG emulation over other soundchips? Would the MSX community received it as well, even knowing that the emulation has some limitations? For example, PSG code ported to the SN76489 would have limited envelope emulation, because the later doesn't have the envelope generator the AY-3-8910 has. The noise emulation would also have it's limits. Would that be acceptable and well received?

My 'money' would be on letting PSG + SCC emulate the SID.

The SCC can, as sd_snatcher already pointed out, mimic the wave forms.
The 'buzz' is there already, just extremise it.
And most of those 'fancy' presets can be software emulated, I guess.

Then only to let each tone:
* sound like if your computer is going to explode from the inside
* absolutely have no clarity whatsoever
* blow the tweeters of your speakers into the next room
* screw up your stereo set
* spoil the crops and sealife for 5 years with each burst

...and the transformation is complete! Wink
I kid, I kid.
