I don't understand the listing and the print out isn't clear, so I guess Blue Crystal is next. Please contact me!

Dropping an update on the lootbox. Received it in well condition from Manuel. Sat down this morning with a big cup of coffee to go through all the manuals that were included. Found it interesting to see how Philips did minor textual revisions going from 8235 to 8250 model. Stating that the 8235 requires DD (80 tracks) disks, and omitting that the machine itself handles SD. Actually had to google the reference towards Quick Disks, did not knew (or just forgot) that that niche existed. The included offical Video Graphics disk in the box states on the shutter DD and 1MB in size, where the official MSX-DOS disk in the box states SD on the shutter and is 0.5 MB in size Running Naked in a Field of Flowers .
Caught onto a little joke of Aackosoft in their listed credits, music by Lex Luthor Wink
Picked up google image translate and went through the Japanese manuals. Finally able to comprehend some of the content.

For the ones interested in the content, see below or click here for the full version.

Quite a broad range of products is included. My wife definitely showed interest in the Douwe Egberts metal shipping box, but I made my pick and will put something of relative equal value back in. I'll reach out to TFH who is next in line once I am done having fun with it.

The VG8235 manual is correct, the computer has a 1DD (single sided, double density) disk drive and thus needs double density (80 track) floppies. 1DD disks have an unformatted capacity of 0.5MB or 500kB (which is what Philips put on the shutter of their 1DD disks), after formatting on an MSX a net total 360kB is usable (some of which is still taken by the boot sector and file allocation tables). Not every system (I mean other systems than MSX) have the same format, so net capacity varies among systems depending on the format used (main differentiators are FM or MFM encoding, number of tracks used, number of sectors per track and size of each sector).

Not many systems used 40 track format in 3.5”, I only know that Fujitsu’s FM77 series used 40 track format (2 sided), so possibly in Japan there were actually disks sold with SD indicated (but they would probably work in DD systems as well). Some National MSX computers can format 1SD and 2SD formats (180kB and 360kB net capacity) and these formats are readable on other MSX computers (at least I tested on a FS-A1ST).

The box has been sent to TFH. Took out an item of my liking and placed back a 512 kb mapper from msx club Gouda. Cleaned the joysticks as there was quite some grime on it. With a weight of 9.8kg the box was close to the shipping weight upper limit of 10 kg. I replaced the shredded paper packaging filler with polystyrene chips, bringing the weight down to 9.2 kg. There was also a lot of lint and rag on the items, cleaned it.
GD 2nd disk has shutter issues, no spring it seems as it doesnt return to the default closed position. When using this disk the game crashes on my setup.
Shipped the box with tracking and insurance up to €500,-. Enjoy TFH, I sure did Smile .

Hey BlueCrystal,
I already received a notice from PostNL that they are on their way with a delivery planned for tomorrow Smile Looking forward to receiving it (again). A good idea to send it with insurance, looking at what happened with the previous lootbox. I'll do the same!
Thanks!

Don't expect to much for that insurance. You will have to prove the value of the contents and PostNL will probably argue that the value ("dagwaarde") will be zero.

Best is to pack your stuff as secure as possible. And make sure that address labels are tightly fused with the package. As a backup put a copy of the address label inside as well and write the addresses on the box too. Packages don't get lost because they fall from a truck, they get lost because they loose their labels.

And of course, enjoy the lootbox! Smile
