Not sure if it has been mentioned. But there are 4 worlds with 4 levels in each. In addition every world ends off with a boss-fight. But of course Smile

Just one more suggestion: how about a tiny bit of background tiles? Just something that is not entirely black... That would make it look so much better!

I see what you mean, but I'm not sure I agree that it would look so much better. --I've tried many versions. I find it hard to get right. Especially with just one palette. And with only 512 colors to choose from, the least bright colors becomes pretty bright. The screen ends up with very little "air or space", hard to separate foreground and background and so on. Background soon becomes just noise... Screen 4 color restrictions doesn't make it easier either. In a screen 5 environment, maybe I had chased the idea further, but this time I think I have settled for this.

Due to performance reasons: I made my own vgm-parser/analyser in python. The raw-data replayer is also custom. It's optimized to use the minimum 84 cycles between writings in the inner loop, but due to a bug in openmsx (we need to have it running on openmsx!) I have had to allow 85 cycles (ref: this thread https://www.msx.org/forum/msx-talk/openmsx/ym2413-wait-state...).

If I were pressed to give you some feedback, maybe the "mario-style" trumpet-heavy happy tunes do not go along very well with the more somber cave music theme. But that's just a tiny detail, looking amazing!

And about inertia: I think inertia just for the sake of smoothness is a bad idea. It makes the character clumsy. If you want inertia, then levels must be designed around it, since it changes the playability. I would vote for no inertia.

I see what you mean. I guess it is the result of having the same music for all bonus-rooms regardless of "level-theme". Plus: my direction of always move towards "happy-happy-happy" :-) That last point is hard to get right in the dark themes, haha.

I want it to be a cute game, no blood or kills and such. We added a proper background story to it all too, and it surely is a balance act to get that "grippin story with a bad-ass enemy" properly conveyed, and at the same time express "blue sky happiness and cuteness".

Oh well. It's the same with Mario and that back story.
