This Game Music Cover Challenge triggers people we've not heard of so often to contribute with their creative skills. MRC user FranSX decided after one forum post about one year ago to make his second contribution to be a special one. This is one of the reasons of this challenge, to get people to be creative and share that with the world.

FranSX made a complete manually played cover of Topo MSX1 game Soft's Chicago’s 30. His fingers stroke the keys of a Korg Trinity. This fine 1995 machine was connected to his Edirol FA-101 external sound card. In Ubuntu 12.04 based Linux distro DreamStudio he used the audio tool MixBus to record and finalize all his hard hand work.

Will we reach at least ten Game Music Covers by the end of the month? It's up to you, the musically active MSXians.

Nice tune! Also like the transition to psg version at the end.

I don't know the original game or music, but I like this tune. It has a nice 30s vibe to it, sounds quite swinging Smile Good job!

It might be a good arrangement, thumbs up for that, but I can't listen to it more than once. I pulled through the whole 2:45 minutes only because Sander mentioned some PSG sounds at the end Smile Not my cup of tea.

I liked this a lot! Smile Thank you FranSX! Big smile It really sounded it was recorded in the 1930s! Sure, I can hear that it was made using synthesizer, but it was close enough to imagine these as real instruments. I bought this game in the eighties, so this gave me a nice feeling for that reason too! Smile

It was a nice idea to include original msx psg style to the end fading, that sounded really good, it was just like the ending in some good movie. Smile

Please make more arrangements from european games! Smile Thank you for not choosing Auf Wiedersehen Monty or Mask 3 or any other most loved most well known msx "hit song", but selecting a nice tune from not so well rated game. Smile

Thank you! I will listen this arrangement in the future too! Smile

We should give bonus points for people who don't use well known tunes for arrangements Wink

Totally agree! Smile

There´s nothing wrong with it, if someone wants to make another version of some well known computer/video game tune, but personally I don´t want to hear how 32nd arrangement of MSX Salamander third stage tune may sound like... Eek!

But sure, go ahead if you want to make 33rd arrangement of any game tune. If it makes you happy, do it. But others, please try to sometimes think of some not previously used tune. Wink

Thanks for your comments. I have more Topo Soft's games covers on Youtube. These are 'Moonsound Maiden' and you can listen it and view the source code ;-)

I've never used a tracker before, so sorry if the songs are not good arrangements:

Titanic
Stardust
Colt36

Funny that you RUN "CAS:" right after a turboR boot screen Smile.
