Same question here.
You cannot jump and even dropping from the ladder from the upper room you cannot land on the tall platform left.

I played it for a short while, its great!

I just watched a gamedev video earlier today where they talked about how barebones you can get while still making a game interesting, and i think you guys (The Pets Mode) nailed it.

The fact that you can't jump and duck actually adds a lot to the gameplay and the lack of music makes the game actually more intense imho.. makes the player focus on solving the puzzles.

Manuel/Artrag I think every chip should be reachable its just finding the correct way. I am in zone 2 atm.

@ syn: I actually look forward to playing the game with some music, even if minimal, accompanying it. The snippet of music at the title made me curious for more. I would like to hear the "ambiental soundtrack" that is promised in the instruction booklet.

@manuel: send me a PM on IRC cuzI dont wanna spoil the game for others.
@john: I didn't read the manual, I just wrote down how I felt about it. Normally I would miss the lack of music but not in this case, (imho a good sign). Adding music would probably improve the atmosphere Smile

Wow another great game! Again super graphics and again I can see there is put a lot of effort in creating, designing and programming this game. One thing; I really only miss a jump option... and well you can say this is part of the difficulty of the game, I think it's a bad part of (missing?) game play. For the rest the game play is nice, plays super and smooth. Good programming. Levels are also well designed. Pets Mode; Thanks you a lot for donating this great MSX game to the MSX Dev contest and our community!! Smile Cool

@Manuel; go from the ladder down to next screen holding left arrow arrow key

Really nice game... Only one little complaint... What is the point of getting back to beginning when you die? It does not feel 2016 at all. I mean... What happened to the "press F5 to continue"-culture? Once you have solved the puzzle it does not add any value to do it again from beginning: The stages don't change, the stories don't change, monsters and chips are at same places... -> In puzzle games this is just frustrating. Sure we know how to cheat, but I still think it is not the best design decision.

Yipee. New games for my MSX1!
I think it's a great game. I've only played 3 screens, and I think it's pretty immersive. If the game offers more things apart from this walking and shooting mechanic, I think it can be pretty addictive.

The intro screens are very original and really makes you wanna play!

Developing games like this is the true core of the MSX community. Thanks a lot!!

The "Save State/Load State" function in openMSX don't work when playing the BitLogic game.
When I try loading the save, displays a red error "Cannot load state, bad file format: C:/.../openMSX/savestates/BITLOGIC_v_091.oms: failed to read: File "C:/../openMSX/savestates/BITLOGIC_v_091.oms" not found".

What kind of install do you use and which version?

@ Paulo Volkova: That seems like a problem with your folder settings in openMSX, which has nothing to do with the game itself.

OK, I found a bug in the savestate script that causes this. I'll try to fix it soon.

You can work around it by dropping the savestate file on openMSX.exe.

You can track the issue here: https://github.com/openMSX/openMSX/issues/1010

So it was specific to this game? I stand corrected.

No, it was very generic, but in this case it occurred because it's a new ROM which was not in the ROM database...

In detail: it occurs if the savestate filename has more than one dot in it. And how does that happen? Well, as follows...

The OSD menu uses a guessed title as a filename for the savestate. For ROMs that are in the database, the title is the real title. But when the ROM is not in the database, like this one, the guessed title is the filename. And that filename already contains a . because of the .ROM extension. So, the filename became BITLOGIC_v_091.ROM 0001.oms. You probably noticed that the list of savestates didn't show BITLOGIC_v_091.ROM 0001 but BITLOGIC_v_091 instead. It cut the name at the wrong dot. (The intention of that code was to strip off the extension of the savestate file, but in the past we also had the .xml.gz extension, which contains 2 dots... so it tried to strip off up to 2 dots...)
Anyway, so, the menu tries to load a savestate with the name BITLOGIC_v_091.oms instead of BITLOGIC_v_091.ROM 0001.oms, which shows up as the error you saw.
