La Reliquia / The Relic

Game developer Roolandoo loves retro games, clearly. Or so at least his web-site screams at us. Taking a look at his recently developed platformer, we can only conclude that Roolandoo loves retro games, indeed. Originally coded for ZX Spectrum, Roolandoo ported it to MSX himself. The Relic, or La Reliquia as the title screen says, is a classic platform adventure available for download.

"Year of the Lord 1533 - My travels through the Holy Land have ended and today, finally, I return to my beloved Monastery of San Camilo. Unfortunately for me, I find it invaded by some sort of alien creatures and all my brothers have disappeared. I have no doubt that someone has seized the relic our order has been guarding for centuries."

So the story tells us.

Downloadable for free, you know nada, noppes, nix, the game The Relic presents us a very successful setting with a medieval touch, really good graphics, melodies that fit like a glove and, above all, a very enjoyable platform game with adventurous touches. While the ZX release is already brilliant, the MSX version is without color clash, more colors and runs a bit more fluid. Well done Roolandoo!
