The MSX Level and Editor contest (MSX-LE) has just made an update on the prizes:

Prizes for the different level categories:

  • King's Valley 2: € 100
  • Brisk: € 100
  • Daisenryaku/ Great Strategy series: € 100
  • Bombaman: € 100
  • Eggerland: € 100
  • Free for All (all other games): € 100
  • Prize for the editor category: € 200

If someone wishes to sponsor a prize, you can also contact the MSX-LE organisation.

There is still 3 months to create something to compete in MSX-LE. And also remember that old levels or editors that have not been released can also compete. So want to get your creativity on with some levels? Or did you create an editor for that game you made and didn't release it? Or even want to create a new one? Now is your chance.

I recall I started work on a level editor for Raftoid about 1 year ago. I might pick that one up and finish it.
Does that count?

I don't know the game Raftoid. It is not on generation-msx.nl. But sure it is fine if you started it a year ago and the game is for MSX and is or will be released before the deadline. Can we find some more information about Raftoid somewhere by the way?

Edit: Ah Raftoid is an MSXDev game inspired by Arkanoid. Yeah, sure an editor for that is of course fine.

Oh yes, I should have mentioned that I presented it at MSX Dev 20. Some people asked for a level editor back then and I did started building it, but parked it and never finish it.

I'm still working on it. I hope to have it ready, but feel free to do so.

I've completed the level editor for Skooter. You can download it from the link below:

That is some amazing work Arjan. It is also put up on the contest page with a link to your Github page.

Besides that an Tiled plug in for creating levels for Yazzie Remastered has been created by FRS. This is also now available on the site. Also great work done by FRS in creating this nice editor.

I released a new version:
https://github.com/abekermsx/skooted/releases/tag/v1.1

It adds support for the version of Skooter released by Pony Canyon and allows to use a bigger text area for the message (so the full message of sheet 16 can be edited).

FRS has entered with a nice level pack of 12 levels for King's Valley 2. In these levels he has set different backgrounds that you can see if you use his patch for King's Valley 2. Most of the levels are relatively compact levels but very nice to solve. There is one 6 screen level. Be sure to check these levels out!

There is only to the end of november to enter your levels or editors. So if you want to enter, be sure to finish up your level(s) or begin finalising your editor...
