Arcade joystick for MSX

novi^skt has announced that he has produced an arcade joystick for MSX inspired by the Telemach Professional, an extremely robust arcade joystick for home computers produced and sold in Spain in the late eighties. Back then the Telemach Professional was very expensive (€45 for the 1-player model and almost €80 for the dual one) but it was the king of all joysticks.

Although initially novi^skt did not have plans to sell his arcade joystick he is going to produce a limited batch of them to the buyer's liking (colors, printed logos/images, etc). Moreover, its buttons and stick are from Industrias Lorenzo, the very same company that originally produced the Telemach Professional joystick (IL still commercializes top quality arcade components).

This handmade arcade joystick can be the perfect choice for MSX gamers because of the fact that well known arcade joysticks like the ones from X-Arcade and HanaHo do not support old 8bit/16bit systems. Its price will be around €75. In this forum thread of Karoshi's Development Boards you can see three different designs of the joystick (two of them finished). Don't miss out this opportunity! Send an email to novi^skt for more information and/or pre-orders.

This is overkill, the Turbo-R (MSX 2+ maybe) are the only system that could create games that would compete with the late 80's early 90's arcade games.

This is similar to having an arcade stick for the Atari 2600,5200, or 7800.

This is a project for people who have more money than common sense. How would this improve the games? During this time period, I remember playing all games with an Atari 2600 style joystick (maybe an Epyx one, if you were real lucky).

It has to have at least 4 buttons (that map to the same button input!) Smile

And what about Gradius/Nemesis and other shooters? An arcade joystick is perfect for that kind of games!

Yes, €60 ($82) or €65 ($89) would be a nice price.

At IL's site, in Products->Products Query->Amusement you can take a look at IL's arcade components catalogue.
