MSX USB & VGA cartridges in development

Topic: Hardware

Poisonic found an interesting website of this Japanese hardware developer who is working on two MSX related hardware projects: An USB interface for MSX and an VGA-output cartridge for MSX.

The challenge of the VGA-output cartridge is to create a cheaper solution than upscan converters which provides better image quality in 80-column mode. On the project page you can find some technical information and a picture of the prototype of this cartridge.

The USB interface for MSX can be used for connecting a keyboard or a mouse, but the developer aims at implementing some form of USB Audio as well, which is already a lot more than this device which can only function as a power-chord for fans and mobile-phone chargers.

We will keep you posted on the progress of these hardware products in the future.

Well, looking at the pics, it's just development boards... No 'product' yet. So the first question is, will it be a product at all? Only if that is answered with a 'yes', you can ask the question of whether or not we'll see it in europe.
