Carlos Maidana has released an article on his website which describes how a 6 button joypad for the SEGA Genesis can be connected to a standard MSX joystick port.

too bad the article isn't available in english...
anyhow, unmodded megadrive pads ought to work, but only the first fire button....that's nice for C64 but there are too many games on MSX that use 2 buttons.

Run the text through babelfish. The result is rather crude, but legible and even funny at times
