msx.org - 15th anniversary

It's November 15th, and like we did five years ago, we feel we should let you know! Fifteen years ago, admin Sander van Nunen registered the www.msx.org domain. Fifteen years later, with various changes in crew and website layout, we still feel pretty much alive and kicking. Naturally, having the new website picking its egg scale soon does help, but even without that: fifteen years is quite a long time in internet history. We've seen it happening often enough, not even limited to MSX websites: websites come, are maintained by one person, and eventually the website goes again. The MSX Resource Center is proud to have a fairly large team behind the screens. Not just to post and translate news, not just to moderate the forum, but also to keep the team motivated - which is needed every once in a while.

Five years ago we've created an MSX Resource Center Timeline which by today we haven't updated. Expect an up-to-date version in the Wiki on the new MRC2k11. Nonetheless, it's still a nice read if you've missed it in 2006. Which brings us to the concept MRC2k11, you've been to Event Eleven, or you've seen the trailer, or the photoshoot. Naturally, people start asking questions like "When? WHEN? When when WHEN?" Anyone who's ever created a game knows that the last 20% of the development time contains 80% of the efforts, and in this case it's about careful balancing between private life and voluntary msx.org time. But, we've put a pin onto our calendar: December! 2011!

Twenty years ago, the scene was booming. And perhaps you've joined the MSX scene in 1991, maybe after you've visited an MSX fair or meeting. So, do tell us: have you celebrated your own party this year because you've been part of the MSX scene for twenty years or more!?

Well, actually this is my 25th year as MSX user, so yes, maybe I deserve something like a party... Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

And the calendar pin is on December 1st or in December 31th? Smile

Congratulations to all MRC staff. You are doing a great job!
I couldn't imagine 25 years ago that my MSX will still be on my desktop with new games, a hard disk, a sound card, connected to internet, etc.
And part of this is thanks to people like you that "spread the word" with quality sites like this.
My MSX is sending a message to all of you:
PRINT "Thanks!"

Congratz all! Speaking for myself I got my first MSX as a Sinterklaas gift (december 5th for the non-dutchies) in... 1988 I guess. So it's almost my 23th MSX-birthday Smile

I remember X-mas 1985 , I did ask Santa for a game console ... but Santa didn't like video game so he brought a big white box with writen Sony HB-F700F and couple of programming book and a nice message telling me: if you want game code them ...
I have to admit that it took me a 3 month to get the first game running ... Thanks to hebdogiciel...
I should stop this story here as I might realized that I m getting old as my beloved HB-F700 now well surrounded by another hb-F700 , a GT and a DE1 Wink
