Tulip, a dutch computer company holding the rights of the Commodore trademarks and brand name have announced they are working on a Commodore Revival.
Similar to the MSX Revival, they are planning to release an official Commodore 64 emulator, in cooperation with the unknown 'Ironstone Partners'. There are already plans for building an official C64 website and re-releasing popular Commodore 64 games. What is going to happen next is not known as of yet.
According to Tulip, there are still 6 million Commodore 64 users world-wide. About 300 websites dedicated to the Commodore 64 have to fear for the future though, since Tulip let them know the use of the Commodore logo and brand name will not be tolerated (contrary to the subtle approach of the MSX Association). In this forum thread you can read the full press release.
