After the spectacular release of Ys 6 - The Ark of Napishtim, Falcom has announced the release of the sixth part in the Legend of Heroes saga for the spring of 2004. The first part of this series, very well known to most MSX users, was also known as 'Dragon Slayer 6'. This game forms one story together with Legend of Heroes 2 (SNES). Legend of Heroes 3, 4 and 5 were released for Windows (3 and 4 for PSX as well) and form another trilogy. And now, Falcom releases a new Legend of Heroes: The Miracle from the Sky. Take a look at the Falcom website to see a promising demo movie.

Oeh! I didn't know that SNES Legend of Heroes game is a continuation of the story line of Dragon Slayer 6! Gotta play it, then...

yeah.. the only thing they need to do is make sure the txt is not hardwired in the code, and hire a translator once for a few grand.. that's it.

I don't claim to be free of warez & stuff, but I've at least original 2 (action-)RPGs on PC..

RPGs rule!

Ro: try Diablo 2 and the Diablo 2 expansion.

It's not heavily text based tho, it's mainly slashing all kinda undead enemies with all kinda weapons and magin, and it's also about collecting (magic) items, strading them etc.
Great music, great gfx (tho, the reviewers usually say something different), and great gameplay/atmosphere. About the gfx: it's basicly 2d, but with perspective, what I like about it is that it feels like a 2d game. It's not another first person shooter with blurry textures, flat objects and other uncreative attempts to save on polies.

Both Legend of Heroes 1 (= DragonSlayer 6) and 2 are on SNES.
LoH2 starts in a very similar way as LoH1, it's pretty funny Smile

Also, I recently found out Legend of Xanadu (PC-Engine) is in fact DragonSlayer 8. (DragonSlayer 7 is called Lord Monarch, for those who didn't know Tongue)

As far as I know the Dragon Slayer series ends with Dragon Slayer 6. Lord Monarch isn't part of is, neither is Legend of Xanadu. The latter is merely a remake of Dragon Slayer 2, Xanadu.

And Legend of Heroes 2 starts in a way similar to Legend of Heroes 1, but the game itself is completely different. The largest part of the game takes place underground.

Only Legend of Heroes turned into a seperate series. And for Sorcerian there were additional scenario packs, but no new games.

Dragonslayer
Dragonslayer 2, aka Xanadu
Dragonslayer 3, aka Romancia
Dragonslayer 4, aka Drasle Family
Dragonslayer 5, aka Sorcerian
Dragonslayer 6, aka Legend of Heroes
Dragonslayer 7, aka Lord Monarch (Rikusu, play the game, it says Dragonslayer VII)
Dragonslayer 8, aka Legend of Xanadu (Rikusu, again, play the game, or view the end demo on Ys VI Movie Collection, it clearly states Dragonslayer VIII)
