Having sold more than 50% of the initial batch of One Chip MSX computers available to the Western market earlier this week, the indicator at the One Chip MSX website of Bazix now shows they are almost sold out completely. In their One Chip MSX newsletter, Bazix notes that the available stock might sell out before November 21st, advising people interested in this new MSX computer to place their pre-order as soon as possible.

Yesterday, MSX Association announced that production of the Japanese edition of the One Chip MSX has just begun, and that distribution is to start at the end of November. For the Japanese market, a total amount of 5,000 One Chip MSX computers will be produced. Most of these have been sold on pre-order at D4 Enterprise, while a limited amount will become available on general sale in December. With this, the new MSX computer is officially, and finally there.
For those who have been living in a cave the last few months, the One Chip MSX is a brand new MSX computer implemented in a single Altera Cyclone FPGA chip. By default, the One Chip MSX is configurated as a boosted MSX2 configuration, with 1MB RAM, MSX-MUSIC, SCC+ Kanji ROM, and a FAT16 compatible, hot-swappable SD/MMC card slot connected via a MegaSCSI interface. A complete overview of its specifications can be found over here.
