Mr. Ghost - Level Boss remake

After a long time not making any MSX arrangement, jorito suddenly saw the light. While biking to his job, enjoying some MP3 tunes, he ran into a tune of Mr. Ghost. It sounded like good metal material. And it turned out to be just that.

The arrangement was completely done in the tracker Renoise with a big share of NI Kontakt. The following VSTs and sample libraries were used as instruments:

  • EWQL Ministry of Rock - bass and lead guitar
  • Impactworks Shreddage - rhythm guitar
  • Steven Slate Drums - drums
  • Yamaha Pacifica Kontakt library - 2nd lead & solo guitar

Before you let all hell go loose, please listen to the original here first. Once you've let all that sink into your brain, and have the guts to go nuts with some heavy guitars, click on the relevant link below:

Yeah!!!
Actually, this cover version made me look upon the song in a totally fresh, different way, since I've always pictured the Mr. Ghost soundtrack in a totally different style and instrumentation, were it to be 'modern' renditions.

Very nice arrangement. I wasn't sure I could get into the arrangement being made into a metal piece in the beginning of the song, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised once it hit the boss theme music. It really works! : )

It is a very difficult game, but I finished it some months back when I first learned about this gem. I was told that this was an absolute "must play" MSX game and I got seriously hooked on it and couldn't put it down until it was finished. : )
