The first game for V9990 and not the last!
Thanks Bitvision!

What do you mean? Intruder is not the first game for MSX1+V9990? I don't see any reference about that in BattleBomber, MSX2 is the minimun requirement as it is shown clearly. Maybe it works in MSX1, I don't know, anyway it's not a finished game, so in my opinion Intruder is the first one.

So playing it right now on my freshly repaired GFX9000, with SCC sounds and arcade joystick.

We have a pure classic vintage shmup here. Controls are perfect, no slowdowns at all, great GFX9000 graphics, cool SCC musics! I also like the (even if kind of useless) informations on the 2nd screen. Exactly the kind of game I was expecting when the GFX9000 came out, just had to wait 20 years or more to finally get it Smile

One thing I noticed: on my Japanese MSX 1 (National CF3000), the first intro screens are displayed, but I'm getting a black screen after that (but music continues playing in the background). No problems on my VG-8020 and VG-8235.

Hi Louthrax,
first thing, great you managed to repair your GFX9000 and now you're gonna give it a very good use Big smile

About the National CF3000 issue, I've been testing the game on OpenMSX for this MSX but I am not able to reproduce the issue, could you explain with more detail what's happening please? Are you able to play with this MSX too?

Thanks and hope you like it! Wink

Hi Fernando,

Still playing Intruder Smile, but will give you a detailed report of the bug tomorrow.

I just managed to get to the stage 4 boss with 3 remaining lives, but that evil thing destroyed me completely in a few seconds! So there's something to understand with this boss. Maybe related to the fact he's round... and the screen is rectangular... Hmmm, that gives me an idea Smile

Also want to say the musics in this game are really catchy, specially stage 3 & 4 (have not heard stage 5 yet !). Congratulations to John Hassink.

@Louthrax good stuff... remember, all final bosses follow patterns. It's just a matter of studying this evil guy Big smile

About the issue, be sure everything is well connected (clean cartridge slot contacts for example) . It happened to me many times (even more when I was using a slot expander) graphic corruption, the game didn't work right, etc...

Hi Fernando,

Ok, finally figured out the black screen problem on my National CF3000: it only happens if a specific model of slot-expander is connected to it.

I have 2 models of slot expanders: a Micro-Technology and a Super Expander 4x from Repro Factory. My guess is that the Micro-Technology expander takes too much juice from the MSX, so the GFX9000 fails after the intro screen and just displays a black screen.

Note that is even does not work if I only have 1 cartridge in the slot expander, no matter if it's the GFX9000 or the Intruder cardridge.

Everything works well if I use the Super Expander 4x or no expander at all. So good to play a GFX9000 game on an MSX 1 machine (so that's really a geeky pleasure Smile).

Ok Louthrax, so it's the Micro-Technology expander. Interesting.
Please let me know if you kill the 4th final boss LOL!

That stage 4 boss is a real badass... you don't want to mess with that guy!

Here's my current tactic with him:

But it did not work well so far :)

Yes, made it to the final boss!

No real working tactics yet for the stage 4 boss. Just be sure to grab the extra lives at stages 1 & 3, shoot and RUN AWAY!!!
