With Mecha 8, the sixth entry for MSXdev'11 is in! This game, by Óscar Toledo Gutiérrez (you may remember him from his MSXdev'10 entry Zombie Near), is a vertical shooter that has quite a few of the elements you see in shooters such as Aleste. Dense backgrounds, a never ending army of enemies, tons of bullets, pods to pick up.. Shooter fanatics will be delighted to blow almost anything that moves out of the way.

This game comes as a 32KB ROM and requires 16KB RAM. When playing on an MSX2 or higher, the game features some visual enhancements.

Nice colourful game! And pretty fast.

Some comments:
- it's a pity you lose your power up (P) after getting hit a single time already...
- what do the other power ups mean? (I guess E is energy, but what about S and Ex?)

I think it is a cool game. Óscar, your games have a very good feeling! I had a lot of fun with this game... and I have finished! A bit short but cool!

S means Speed, E is Energy (1 point) and Ex is 2 points of energy.
With speed you can avoid more easily the enemy bullets to not lose your power up. Smile

Great shooter Oscar!

Here we go with my coments:
- Bullets are hard to see on the first level because of the colors
- I like the big mecha sprite, but it feels a bit slow, specially since you lose the speed after every hit. Anyway, when you gain full speed you feel like a badass flying this huge mecha LOL! really awesome.
- The gauge meter fills up a bit slow, It would be nice to be able to fire the special shot more than once per level.

Congratulations for this cool game!

I don't know what it is about this game - but I LOVE IT! It would, indeed, be nice to offer some kind of 'easy mode' in which you don't lose your hard-earned weapons and speedups that quickly.

Still, great stuff!
