Hello,

i know the scart is a good way to connect your monitor.
BUT the scart on this one is not 100% scart because with an adapter to s-video there ain't no output!

is there a way to modify the scart that way so the adapter to s-video will work?

I think, but i'm not sure .. but maybe you can ask repair-bas... there is a special hardware expansion for s-video in combination with you suggested MSX...

I am not sure what you exactly mean. Is the scart output modified somehow? or is the only scart port used for something else?

Got my "new" NMS8250 today from bas

I have exactly the same problem... I cannot get (composite) video or s-video from the scart socket. (my projector only accepts composite or s-video, no scart directly). The scart socket seems to work, because I hooked up my brand new NMS8250 to my lcd-tv and selected Scart-rgb with remote -> superb picture quality Is there something special in the scart of NMS8250?

BTW, what type of signal does the NMS8250 feed through the "video" and "luminance" outs? One could presume the "video" would be composite, but apparently it's not.

Could someone shed some light on this matter?

Basicly the RGB output that go directly to the scart are fed through an PAL encoder as well which creates an composite video signal. So basicly the conversion to composite video happens internally.

The scart output of the NMS8250 looks pretty standard on the schematics to me.

However. There are some television sets that only accept composite signals through the scart which might be your case.

I'm still confused with the scart -> composite/s-video problems. Until today my projector has happily accepted *anything* I have thrown at it I should get composite video from pin 19, but I get no picture whatsoever... I'm no electronic wizard here, so there might be an ultra stupid error I have made. I just don't understand what it was

If I get me a cable like this:

my 8250's don't work on any of my lcd screens... my sony 700 does by the way... there is some difference between both scarts...

I really thought scart was a standard. How come the NMS8250 does not work as it should/other computers do? Would someone have some (deep) technical insights on this? It should be possible to get composite from pin 19, but why does is not work?

I tested also with an old crt with av-connectors in the front panel -> nothing with a standard adapter like this:

Can someone confirm that this should actually work (getting composite from 8250 scart)?

Then I hooked it up to the old crt-tv with a standard scart cable -> works fine. Weird.

all adapters won't work, i have tested them.
i think there is something wrong at the video board, guess there something to do so the scart will accept any adapters after! it

but who does any about this failure of the scart what won't accept adapters?, that is the big question.

Scart is just a definition of which possible connections are located on a specific spot/pin. Sadly, it does not specify all the connections that should be supported trough the connector. So its perfectly acceptable to support the RGB signals and not the s-video signals on the scart connector (this seems to be the case for the 82xx series). Which signals are support should be somewhere in a manual or technical spec document.,
