Three days ago I sent the following tweet, it is in spanish but I think that everybody will understand what it is about:

Yes, my MSX sent a tweet and it was not connected to Internet by any wire, but via Wifi. :)

And how is this possible? By using a Denyonet and a little toy named TP-LINK TL-WA500G. It is a wireless access point which is quite affordable (about 25€) and among other things has a nice thing named client mode:

Client Mode: connects an AP TL-WA500G to your game consoles, setop box or other multimedia devices that with Ethernet port, and join them into your current wireless network, easily making them WiFi enabled while eliminating the need of running unsightly cables and installing drivers
And for the fist time in my life, I didn't mind my MSX to be considered as a "game console" ;)

I tell this here just in case someone was willing to put his MSX online but was not able to use a wired network. Well, this is the proof that it is possible, and now you know how.

By the way, thanks to this gadget I have been able to move my MSX setup from my kids bedroom (where the cable modem is placed) to my own bedroom, and this is how the whole thing looks like now (never mind the diapers bag in the corner):

Except for the TL-WA500G, it could pass as a photo took in the 80s, isn't it? :P

Ah.. that's cool to do.. My denyonet is still in developing (i think..) but anyway i have also the same problem if i receive my DenYoNet.. I have only wireless @ my house .. On my MSX room i have a PC with a normal NIC and a wifi device.. i was thinking to connect the denyonet directly to my PC and then brige the thing to the wireless device.
But this is even better because there is no need for a PC anymore..

I did things like this in the past, but in the end it is a mess. With this access point you need a PC only once, to configure the device via web (I miss the times where these gadges offered the possibility to be configured via serial port or telnet...)

Just for my information. So first thing you did is connect your MSX to this wireless router.. and this router is then also connected to an other wireless router i think ? I use a Linksys flashed with dd-wrt.. how do you connect this wireless router to the other one ? Or is the connection just like a normal connection ..

The TL-WA500G, as I have configured it, is just a Wifi client, or a "Wifi to Ethernet converter" if you want. I have also a Wifi router in another room which is in turn connected to a cable modem that gives me access to Internet.

The first thing to do after unpacking the access point is to connect it to a PC and open its configuration page in a web browser. Here you select the Wifi network you will connect to (the one created by the Wifi router, in my case) and the authentication parameters (WEP/WPA, key length, password, and the like).

Once you have done that, the access point retains the settings and you don't need the PC anymore (unless some day you want to connect to a different Wifi network): you simply unplug it from the PC, plug it to your MSX network card and you are done. Oh, and by the way, the access point can act as a DHCP server as well (but in my case, it is the Wifi router who does this job).

The "big joystick" is a Telemach, the mytical arcade machine-style joystick produced in the 80s. It is a fundamental piece of my MSX tool box, and the only safe way to let my kids interact with my MSX, at least until they grow up a little more. Smile

And the FISICA book... I don't open it since 1992, luckily I didn't trash it. Huge books are indeed awesome. Tongue
