I will do my best to have some info on ObsoNET included in the upcoming magazine. However, please understand that I can't make any promises. Not good enough! We need a sworn statement and guarantee duely executed before a notary public!
But seriously, this seems like a really good opportunity to make a great project like ObsoNet known to 'the world'. This is one of the few recent 'amateur'-MSX developments that I'm really excited about. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities. I guess it would be nice if you could give a whole bunch of information, maybe even a working test-setup.
We could like make a game like F1-Spirit work via a network! I already have a name for it, A1 Spirit!
To msxgamesbox:
If you want me to take out the 'MSX games boX' thingy, let me know and I will make new pictures.
Thanks for the offer. I would surely appreciate two new photos without the 'MSX games boX' logo. I'll make sure to fit your name in the credits section though :-).
Bernard, you can get the new pictures here:

To sunrise:
There is a least one demo of a Russian game made by Eternal what is called Logic Blob
Just had a first go at the game. It looks nice. I think I will include it in the Russian amateur software section. Thank you for the information.

I just downloaded the pictures. These are excellent for publication. Thanks!
more photo requests:
1) clear pictures of Arabic MSX cartridges, both boxed and unboxed. We are still missing a high-resolution picture of the Koran cartridge.
Well, few years ago I sent Kuniji Ikeda (MSX Print) the valuable brand-new Holy Koran cartridge, and it was in full demonstration on Arabic AX-350 (MSX 2) in on of MSX meetings in Japan. I think that Ikeda will manage to prepare hi-res scan for the cartridge and the manual.
- did Al Alamiah and its competitor operate in all Arabic-language countries, or were yet other parties involved?
Sakhr-MSX was the first real Arabic computer. Other companies which came after Al-Alamiah (Universal) arabized Atari system (it's too vague to me, I can't remember well). I think their arabization was not in the core of the system like the case in MSX.
Sakhr-MSX spread in the whole Arab countries. Can you imagine that the word Sakhr used to mean 'computer', the same way you say Xerox to mean that you want a photocopy. About 700,000 sakhr computers were manufactured.
- finally, could someone please help us with our Arabic?
- Al Alamiah: universal
- Al Mithali: perfect
- Sakhr: ?
- Bawarth: ?
- Ba Khashwain: ?
Sakhr: if literaly tarnslation into English it means 'Rock', or rather 'Rocky', which is a male person Arabic name. My opinion is the Al-Alamiah choosed this name because it can easily resemble the style of MSX logo.
Nowadays Sakhr is a independent company and trademark, and it has nothing to do with Al-Alamiah anymore.
Bawareth and Bakhashain are the family names of the companies establishers.
Like Ford, Toyota and so on.
Regards
- could someone confirm the existence of games which support the
Yamaha classroom network?Yes, I can confirm this. I have 8 or 9 modified games wich are able to send themselfs via the network to a specific client and then run on that client.
Usage:
Nemesis 3 (to send the modified version of Konami Nemesis 1 to the network client with id 3 and execute the game)
Usas 3 (the same, Konami Usas)
I have several other games but don't know the syntax to use them.- does anyone have a list of software produced in Russia? The MSX
Resource Center mailbox is wide open for Russian software which is
either declared freeware, or for which the contributing party holds
the rights.I have several tools and utilities wich make use of the network. Unfortunately the documentation is in Russian so I can't figure out how to use the tools. Neither do I know if copyright is involved.
Jazzy,
please put the russian manual online. I've got a russian girlfriend who can translate it for you...

Hi darcmarc. Sorry, too much pages.

Where do you live?
Jazzy,
I live in Rotterdam, the Netherlands
I live in Rotterdam, the NetherlandsThe Netherlands mmm... I think I know where that is.
Why don't you mail me at stoppen@hotmail.com and send me your adress. I will send the manual by regitered snailmail. After translation, just send it back to me.
Thanks to the kind cooperation of a number of people, I have been able to compile most of the material on my wishlist.
The only thing that I keep missing though, is a clear, high resolution picture of either the AX-330 or AX-990, preferably in action. Also any additional information on these machines is welcome, as well as a picture of their internals.
