@Huey You need to flash it first with the firmware using the procedure described in the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD manual (when sold it comes pre-flashed).

No disk/sd images needed?

After flashing it boots from the built-in ROM disk by default and I think an empty SD image is also automatically created.

You need the files mentioned in the manual (they can be downloaded from the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD site). Basically, you manually flash these files (Nextor, rescue, romdsk, etc.) with OPFXSD. All downloadable from the MSX Cartridge Shop site.

(edit: while typing all of this, you noticed the missing nextor.rom.... pleas read on Wink ).

One small problem though, the nextor kernel for flashing (nextor.rom) cannot be downloaded anymore? On Konamiman's website it gives a 404, and on msxcartridgeshop only the complete kernel.dat can be downloaded (that also includes the romdisk for example). That one is for use with the recovery ROM!

So download all the files from the site and boot openmsx with the dirasdisk feature. The directory should be the one where opfxsd.com and the recovery rom are located. In DOS, go to the drive with these files and flash the recovery ROM:

OPFXSD recovery.rom /I34:

Now flash the disk rom:

OPFXSD dskrom.rom /I1.

When that is done, reboot OpenMSX without the Megaflashrom extention. This is important because the openmsx diskmanipulator does not work with it. Now open the openmsx commandline window and add the ide extention:

ext ide

And create a disk image with the kernel.dat on it:

diskmanipulator create myimage.dsk 100M
hda myimage.dsk
diskmanipulator import hda1 /path/to/kernel.dat

Now restart openMSX with the Megaflashrom extention and myimage.dsk as hda, Keep the "up" cursor key pressed when booting. The recovery ROM should start. Now choose the option to flash the SD kernel (F4). It should start searching and after that flash the kernel. Now reboot and the Megaflashrom should be working Smile

(I just happen to have done this yesterday...)

diskmanipulator create myimage.dsk 100M

Just gives me an access denied error.

Hmm, you probably should use a complete path to a directory where you can write the file. But mars2000you tips seems a bit more easy though. Whished I've seen that yesterday Wink

It’s trying to create in the Program Files directory most likely, which is the current directory in openMSX on Windows. Try to specify a full path like c:\myimage.dsk.

By the way, doesn’t the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD KERNEL.DAT include Nextor? There should be no need to download it separately…
