Ok then great
But i'm still looking for those files
Good news. Bas has replied to my second email, which I sent on 07-11-14! I suppose this means there was recently a problem with emails sent to him, but now it's over. Unfortunately, he said the total price for an MSX2 including shipping and cables is €100, so I thought I may not be able to afford it. Luckily for me, the exchange rate has changed since I last checked, making €100 equivalent to £78.46, instead of £85.00, so this makes it more likely I can afford it!
I hope so .
Is that a plain MSX2 or a rather expanded one? Ask him for the cheapest MSX2 model he has in stock with a working disk drive and 128kB, if you didn't already.
I haven't got the details, except that it's a Philips NMS8245. Bas said that the spec is the same as an 8250 which I asked for. Perhaps this means it's been upgraded. I don't think I'd ever heard of the 8245 before, but from the page http://www.msx.org/wiki/Philips_NMS_8245 I see that it looks like a doorstop instead of a keyboard attached to a VCR or a bit like a classic PC. I'd prefer an MSX2 which looks like an 8250. I saw from a pic of a stall Bas ran at a fair that nearly all of his computers looked like the 8250 or similar models.
The standard spec is the same. It's just a very different casing (and built in keyboard). It's quite a comfortable thing anyway, as it's quite compact and not so heavy compared to a 8250/55/80.
Oh dear! How heavy is an 8250 or 8255 complete with keyboard? The postage from the Netherlands over to me may mean that I couldn't afford it.
The 8250 is double the weight.
For me it’s the opposite, I like the 8245 and how compact it is. It’s got nice key action, too. While I’m not a huge fan the 8250, it’s just so big. My father used to have both and I sold the 8250 .
me to buy the 8245 its great. light and good disign. 8250 is heavy and not as great keyboard to use
