It is normal when updating to different version of update.bin (flash chip firmware) than FPGA currently running. Step 5 will always display "not suitable" because FPGA is running 0.7 and new update.bin is 0.8 or 0.9, and it is normal in the course of the migration.

I will see if I can change wording in the firmware, and add this info to manual.

I made a fresh video about my Zemmix Neo (Firmware 3.7.1) + GR8NET Firmware Ver0.9 + MidiPac + Tetris 2 SE this time we fix the problem about launching from SDCARD + DAC Samples in sync for OCM Turbo Mode.

Enjoy!

Personally I think a cold boot in between FPGA and ROM update makes more sense. Then GR8NET is started with new FPGA code and loading the ROM Update will show it is suitable. I know it is not really needed but it will give the end user some more peace of mind pressing Y.

I do still have some spare GR8NETs available. Manual is here.

GR8NET steps up to the version 0.10. Changes are:

1. mapper mode 7 (mapped RAM) may have sample RAM now, which size is being deducted from the 1MB mapped RAM. For example, 768K of mapped RAM plus 256K of sample RAM. Previously there were two modes - mapped RAM disabled, and mapped enabled.
2. Nextor version 2.1.0
3. Rebuilt NETFWUPDATE command now is able to update only sectors with differing data, not wearing the whole flash out.

Update from 0.9 to 0.10 as usual, no special instructions.

For people who are curious about feature of sample RAM + memory mapper - it allows you to have ADPCM in MSX-AUDIO and have the rest of memory available in mapper. So sometimes when you need some memory plus fully functional MSX-AUDIO (not only FM part) - this will make it Smile

Mine is still at 0.8. Should I update to 0.9 before going to 0.10?

No, you can go directly to 0.10. There was special procedure to update from 0.7 to 0.8.
