Hi all,

I bought this great cartridge SD-512 from 8bits4ever, which equips my MSX with and SD card reader. Now I can put all my .DSK images on this card an run them with SofaRun! This works great for most games, but some games will not work from SD.
So my question: Is there a tool on the MSX, which can copy the .DSK images to a real floppy? Next I can reboot my MSX (with SD card removed) and run the game from real floppy.

Jazeker ! ????
Dskextract can be used for ripping files from a .dsk file. Kinda like unzipping an archive.

Hi Johan (and welcome here),

Do you remember which .DSK game were not working with SofaRun? I have patches for some of them (Quinpl, Goody, Nyancle Racing, Famicle Parodic 2 & Fire Hawk), those were made by NearDark for the original RunIt, but it seems their web site is down, so I'll probably publish them on my site (with proper credits).

You also have some "RAM slot" patches on my website for other games (needed if you have a RAM expansion module).

Louthrax: Please do so. Our official website has more downtime than ontime. It just pops up once in a while. No one can rely on that. As you manage this kinda thing actively, you've the right place to host it Wink

As for putting DSK's to disks: try Putdisk

Great, thanks Meits !

Johan, you can also use the FDSAVE / FDLOAD tools: http://www.big.or.jp/~saibara/msx/ese/lzh/mg960703/bu951030.lzh.

Great! I prefer FDLOAD.COM. It takes command line parameters. Only a bit slow (but that can also be my HB-F700). Thanks for the help.

Regarding games not working with RunIt. I have trouble with Breaker (Radarsoft) and most disk conversions of Megaroms. 16K or 32K games work fine.

I think you can just copy the files from Breaker to your SD/CF/HDD and you should be able to run the game fine.
For MegaROM cracks you may need MAP.COM. I used to get most of these working fine on my SCSI system.

Runit only supports 100% sector based releases. If you see a file on the disk, it most probably won't work.

Thanks Manuel. It did not work out for Breaker, but it works for another favourite game of mine: Super runner.
Meits, also thanks, so I guess RunIt only hooks into sector calls??

On my SCSI disk, I ran all these cracks and games with files on the disk by copying the files and using MAP.COM. Looking at my old HD backup, I didn't seem to have these Radarsoft games installed on it, though.
