BrainGames has just released Transball, a new game for our precious computer system. This MSX1 game let's you control a spaceship. In each level of Transball, the goal is to find the energy sphere, capture it and carry it to the upper part of the level. The main obstacle is the gravity, that pulls you towards the ground. But many other obstacles such as canons, tanks, doors, etc. will make your journey harder than it seems.

Story line:
In the distant future the sun around your planet has died off... The only energy source are the "energy spheres". Each of these spheres contains enough energy for a planet to survive for a whole decade, since they are charged with the energy of other stars.
An opportunist civilization has stolen all the charged spheres from your home planet, preparing for a future invasion. As a last chance, the last remaining sources of energy have been transferred to a scout ship and sent to recover the spheres... this is your last chance of survival!

The game, information and even the sources are available at Github. The Filehunter made the game available to play online at his website. On the MRC forum you can find more information on the development of this new piece of gold.

Hurray for new software!

On Filehunter it shows the msx1 boot screen and "Brain Games Presents" and then it hangs on that screen. Using Firefox 47.0.1 on Win10 64 bit.
The screenshots look awesome, will try it at home on a real MSX. Smile

Try hitting the space bar when you see "Brain Games Presents"....

The game is quite addictive (and frustrating sometimes...)

Thanks for the comments guys!!! As for "space" in the intro screen, yeah, I should add a timer or something that goes to main menu after a few seconds Smile

Just updated the files in github (release 1.1.1) to fix the problem with the splash screen. It should now advance directly to the main menu after 5 seconds if you use the latest version from github Smile

Can you also compile a new (English) ROM so I can update the version on my site? Thanks! Smile

It's not too hard (very easy in fact) to build it yourself: java -jar javatools/lib/Glass.jar src/transball-main-en.asm transball-en.rom

I prefer to keep a "clean" system, so installing a package like Java for for a one time compile... Nah :)
And in the meantime, a newly compiled version is available on GitHub, so... problem solved!

Hey guys, I just made a new release of Transball (v1.2), changes:
- smooth scroll if MSX2 is detected (or MSX1 with the V9938 VDP) (can be deactivated pressing '6' in the title screen, and re-activated by pressing '7' in the title screen).
- rotation speed configuration from the title screen (press keys '1' - '5')
- some optimizations to run better in 60Hz machines

For those who want to play it straight away: http://www.file-hunter.com/MSX/Transball.html
