I've been to England three times over the span of two months, I think I'll stay put for the time being. In October I'll go to Scotland and maybe England again around Christmas time, but for now I'm happy to be at home
Always found it illogical to go on holidays in the midst of summer (here in NL). Better go (some place warmer) when it's cold & snow in the streets like in jan-feb or so.
Of course people have kids in school, jobs @ companies that run on the back-burner for a week or 2, etc and must fit their holidays around that. But when at all possible, I prefer to enjoy summer close to home and plan far-away trips for the 'rainy season'.
Spent last couple of weeks largely at a nearby lake taking in sun, watching local wildlife, and some falling stars on a few especially warm/beautiful nights. Can't remember a string of high minimum temperatures ever in my life as we've had here recently. Like 20+ C at 04:00, in several nights over a few weeks. Unbelievable. And I'm getting old...
