I am not impressed, to be honest.
It is a bit slow but it is the closest to the arcade among the 8bit versions

If you consider the arcade source and how much is moved on the screen by a measly Z80 without any assistance, I would say it is pretty decent. Sure the gameplay could be improved and it doesnt move like Weclemans, bust still an achievement!
If you're looking for something in development that's most definitely based on having the pre-rendered tile sets ready to go, check out Power Blade's racing interstitial levels.
